I've had OS3.9 installed and working for about a week and, software wise, everything was great.
Today I installed Cinema 4D (from the last CUCD) and suddenly I have a (seemingly) unrelated problem.
After WB has loaded (and it's going through the start-up drawer) I get the following:
Cannot open "resource.library", version 44.
Unable to open "AmiDock".
This is really annoying, as resource.library appears to be responsible for most of the windows opening on WB (i.e. Execute Command, Icon Information).
I've checked which version I have (44.102) and it's the same as the version on the OS3.9 CD (AmigaOS3.9:Emergency-Boot/Libs and AmigaOS3.9:OS-Version3.9/Workbench3.5/Libs). This is also the same version that's on the OS3.5 CD (AmigaOS3.5:Workbench/Libs).
Just incase the library on the HD was a bit knackered, I copied it over from OS3.9's CD. No joy.
Anybody had this problem before?
Anybody got an idea how to fix this?

I think I've seen this question before. Try the archives.

Make sure that your SetPatch hasn't been copied over. Resource.library is loaded by it on startup, and can't be loaded later, AFAIK.
-
I've had a look, but couldn't see anything.
Or maybe I'm just blind :-P
-
SetPatch appeared to be fine, but I'll go check.
-
SetPatch on OS3.9's CD and in my SYS:C are both 44.17. So, I don't think it's that.
Cheers anyway.

Perhaps something was owerwritten in Classes:Gadgets or replaced with older version or something like that. At least my original 3.9 install did miss something in Classes followed with similar nags concerning AmiDock or datatypes.library.

You're suprisingly talkative for a Dundonian, Vincent. ;-)

did cinema 4d add anything in the startup drawer? if so take it out see what happens then.

@ zipper
I looked in the Classes/Gadgets and there were a LOT of earlier versions in there (when compared to my last OS3.9 backup), I replaced these early versions and it is now working.
Although, before I did that, during the first boot-up today I got an error from RexxMast - either suspend or reboot.
The guru no is: 0101E0D0 (DEAD-END)
during the reboot, the same RexxMast error occurred, although with a different guru no.
010201F8 (DEAD-END)
This happens everytime I boot unless I boot with no start-up sequence and leave it for a couple of minutes. This has NEVER happened before.
Cinema4D only added things to user-startup, which starts after the RexxMast line.
@lorddef
Nothing was added to WBStartup from Cinema4D. Good thinking though.

You've obviously never met me when you've been here :-D

@Vincent
I had the same problem when I installed OS3.9 on my A2000 quite a while back, and I'll be darned if I can think of what solved the problem. Suffice to say that if I could figure it out, you sure can too, I know just enough about the Amiga to be dangerous to myself. Don't give up, and in the meantime, if I remember what the fix was, I'll let you know pronto.

Do you mean the RexxMast problem?
The resource problem was sorted by copying the gadgets from my OS3.9 backup (they're all on the OS3.9 CD, but I couldn't access that at the time).
The RexxMast problem seems to have fixed itself. I've had the 1200 on during the past 2/3 days and the guru hasn't appeared. At that time I didn't have GuruLog installed, so I couldn't find out a little more about the problem. Now that I've got GuruLog installed the problem seems to have fixed itself.
If the RexxMast problem reoccurs, I'll try and see what I can do about it. I remember having the problem under OS3.5 aswell, but this was solved by taking it out of the startup-sequence, and putting it in the WBStartup drawer. This should work under OS3.9 aswell, but because it's now working, I don't want to change anything.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" :-D

Sorry for dredging up an oldie but I have a variation of this problem. For me, it occured having installed ImageFX4.5. I have tried the suggestions earlier in this thread ie. copying classes/gadgets and setpatch from 3.9 CD. This results in setpatch failing return code during boot. Anyone have any other possibilities?
Cheers

Remove the "QUIET" keyword from SetPatch and read what it is complaining about.
If you had Boingbags installed, you should not copy files from the CD but from a backup of the latest files. Or reinstall the Boingbags if you don't have a backup.
Bye,
Thomas

Thanks Thomas. Yeah, reinstalled BB2 and all works great. This is a kick up the arse for getting those backups done. though:-)
