Title: Expanding Chip RAM on a 1200?
Post by: XDelusion on December 22, 2005, 07:01:42 AM
I really like my 1200, and I really like having it in the original case so I can take it with me if I need to. The only thing I hate about my Amiga is the fact that it always runs out of Chip RAM. Is there any way in the wold to expand that without putting it in a tower and adding a VooDoo 3 to it or what ever?

Chip ram can't be expanded. You can install some fast ram and certain patches to make as much sw as possible use the fast ram instead of the chip ram.

Also if you plug in a GFX board, your chip ram utilization will go down.

What OS are you running ?? 3.9 ?? Then you can have some gfx be stored in Fast mem and not Chip mem. Also, if you don´t have a gfx card, don´t use to high gfx in your Workbench. Try to use a small background without too many details. Also if you use a lot of gfx in MUI then this also eats away your chip mem ...
