Title: A1200 & new hard disk installation
Post by: skywalkgr on December 18, 2005, 07:57:26 AM
Goodmorning to all of you :)

I've bought a 2,5inch hard disk (Seagate/40GB/4200rpm) and i would like to install it to my a1200.

Which operating system i must choose , in order not having issues partitioning the drive...
And which Filesystem is better (perfomance/file handling) because i want to store a lot of dms images in it.

I have workbench 3.1   and OS 3.5 , can i use on of them?

only os3.5 or higher supports partitions > 2 gb (or was it 4 gb), but be warned, you'll need a lot of ram for validating the partition (>20mb for 4 gb). better skip validation on a standard a1200.

you can use it. if i remember correctly, you can skip the bad block detection, aka validation, and directly format the partitions.

Or you just add a 32 or 64 or 128 Mb Ram module to your Blizzard 1230/4 (http://users.pandora.be/DiscoVmax/Amiga/Blizzard1230-4_B_BIG.jpg)
