It had to happen didn't it.
http://amiga.resource.cx/ is dead at 07.35am
ffs!
-
Anybody got any bright ideas before we start to panic :-?

  my life will have no meaning without these Amiga hardware sites
Think I have the email adress to the owner of amiga resource, my A3000 use to belong to him before I bought it from him on Ebay.
-
Ah man! BOTH those sites are so cool...
Surely all that needs to happen is that the webmasters need to remove the offending drivers and then they can put the sites back up...?
Or has someone really had a sense of humour failing over the whole thing, and are trying to sue a non-profit site for a piece of 20-year-old software or something?

I would'nt have put it exactly this way, but indeed, if this site goes down, then I'm in BIG trouble.
It's one of the MAIN Amiga ressources AFAIC, in the same fields as A.org !
If really it stops, wich I don't want to believe, we need to secure what's already done, and host it somewhere, heck, I have no time at all, but for such an important thing I'd be glad to help.

Hi all,
I've just read here that we are down. And sure enough we are. But it's not copyright issues, just a server crash. Probably the hard disk has died, we'll check it tomorrow (monday).

You have backups, don't you? :nervous:

I have.

Good.

Is Michael Rubisch still involved in the site?

Yes, he still sends images and manuals whenever he comes across Amiga stuff we miss from the database. In fact I have more than a hundred (!) scans just from him waiting to be added to the site. I'm trying to keep up with him as time allows, but he's always a year before us. He also scanned many manuals for us which are waiting to be OCRed. He's a great source and helping hand of us.

I always wondered how Michael Rubisch made those sharp close-up pictures of Amiga hardware. If Lex or anybody else know the answer, please enlighten me :-)

You mean a similar quality as THIS Ariadne networkcard (http://users.pandora.be/DiscoVmax/Amiga/Ariadne.jpg) :-?

Heck Alex, kind of Ironic, that only days after Amiga-Hardware went down for Copyright infringements, your site bites the dust as well.
Maybe the hard drive rolled over & Died in sympathy, knowing what was going on elswhere!
Almost "Twilight-Zone" crap eh!
{bleep}...can I say that or is someone gunno Bust my Ass for copywright issues! :sealed:

Ugh, this scared me for a moment... Hopefully Ian will get A-H working again soon.

I just want to offer both Amiga-hardware.com and amiga.resource.cx a mirror on my server if either one wants.
It would be a shame to lose all Amiga hardware sites for any reason, and since I own a web development firm and have the space and bandwidth, I don't see any problem with using the AmigaDeals.com domain name as a mirror site for both of these if either are interested. (I have ~90GB a month worth of bandwidth I could spare without issue for this)
Of, if you'd prefer I could just toss up a new domain along the lines of Amiga"something", a quick check says these .com's are available: AmigaSite, AmigaDirect, SuperAmiga, BestAmiga, AmigaRom, AmigaDownload, AmigaWorkbench, RomAmiga, TheAmigaMia, YourAmigaEmu, AmigaKickStart, TheAmigaEmulator, CommodoreAmigaSite, etc...
resource.amigadeals.com and hardware.amigadeals.com would take 2 seconds to set up and not all that long to ftp all the contents up (if you're hosted on a linux box I could directly ftp the contents of your sites from my server, or you could just do an archive (backup) to my server's IP and I could untar it there).
Give me a holler if either of you are interested. You'd both have your own ftp/shell/etc access to the server and could run whatever mirror scripts crons etc you need or want. I wouldn't have any hand in managing the content it would be entirely up to you. (Can also use whatever mySQL or Postgre you need if any.)
I don't know if there's any sort of goodnatured competition between the two sites, but I do know I've used both of them many many (many) times to find solutions to issues I've had or to identify (wtf is this thing?) hardware I have. :-)
To repay you both in someway would be great.

We are back! :)
I just want to offer both Amiga-hardware.com and amiga.resource.cx a mirror on my server if either one wants.
Thanks, but I'm fine with my current server. It has good bandwidth and the admin is a very good friend of me. Just to give him credits, he's the author of MooVid. Server crashes happen, it's just a dodgy pc.
As for domain names, we have a less known one: hardware.amiga.hu (http://hardware.amiga.hu)
I don't know if there's any sort of goodnatured competition between the two sites
Competition is healthy. And for Amigans it's nice to have two different sources of hardware info. :)

@CD32Freak
I'd guess it was a tripod and macro mode. Not really all that tricky :-)

:knuddel: Welcome Back AHD! :-D

@gnarly
Thanks gnarly, I thought so :-)
