Well for the 7th time today i've done a fresh install and so far everything is fine, except from the warp os 68k gearwont work, all i get is a grey screen, the ppc side works prefect but the 68 side just refuses to work. has any one got any ideas i can try to get these to work?
EDIT:
I've ran snoopdos while trying the 68k gears and the only thing it fails on is a Prometheus.library
-
Are you running the screen in 16 bit?
What are your systems specs?
-
yea im running in 16bit mode.
Setup:
A1200, mediator,voodoo2 or 3 cant remember lol,bppc160,40gig hdd, blah blah blah.
I setup everything like in this post
Linky (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=19137)
like i did last time but this time it just refuses to run the 68k gears. I did install the warp 5.1 update but still nothing and i removed all the 3000/4000 warp drivers that are'nt needed. So its got me beat so any ideas whats going wrong would be great

@nasty
Sounds rather like a problem with the MMU setting thingymabob for the mediator. I had a lot of problems with 680x0 Warp3D on the voodoo3000 test system I have on loan here until someone pointed it out to me (my main machine is a BVision based one and has no such foibles). Try setting ENVARC:Mediator/MMU to "Yes" if it isn't already.
That seems to work fine here.
-
You could also try running a tool such as MediatorX to check if you have the right libs and devs in place.
When running the Warp3D setup from the MMCD, the setup program copied the A4000 drivers although I am using an A1200.
Next obstacle was the CONFIG jumper which for my config should be set to OPEN in the English and to CLOSED in the German translation of the manual.
-
Thanks guys the problems sorted, I changed MMU to yes and it worked.
I had a quick look but couldnt find MediatorX anywhere.
-
Ok im picking up the hammer! I've just noticed that my Warp PPC gears have stopped working if i change MMU to yes then the 68k gears work fine but the ppc gears dont work I simply get the warp error. and if i change MMU to No then the PPC gears work but the 68K just displays a grey screen I try mediator X and I seem to hae all the ness files and I have deleted the A3000/A4000 files!

It is really annoing to change mmu always if you want use 68k warp3 software or ppc warp3d software. Also, it can be ppc software with 68k mmu settings :)) like descent demo ..
So, only one solution it is change by hands MMU settings and reboot. But, it possible to write little patch, which can be reload pci.library ..
here is my question to mediato group:
"> Well..It is possible to change ENV:Mediator/MMU config
> in realtime, without reboot ? So be it will a 'hack' but,
> it possible somehow ?
The only way you would be able to do it is if you could expunge pci.library from the libraries list, as I would guess that this would be a once-only read when pci.library is opened. After that, just re-start something that opens it. This would involve clearing every other process that has it open - eg. voodoo.card, spider.device, ahi drivers, everything.
You can find out how many processes are using the library from Scout, and even try to get it to expunge - the Remove button in Scout.
The only real way for something like this to be done properly would be a new Refresh function added to pci.library, and a suitable shell command that will call it."
-
Is this a new "feature" in pci.library ?
I haven't used my Amiga1200 in a long time but i used to be able to use both 68k and PPC stuff without changeing any MMU settings.
I have reasently done a complete reinstall of everything as my WB hd died (thats why i havent used the 1200 in avail).
Now i can only get 68k gears fullscreen and WarpTest to work. Everything else fails. (gray screen or warp exception)
I have my WB in 16bit PC mode. but nothing will run in a window.
-
I have the same problem. The only thing I can get to work is fullscreen gears, and the demo with the shading examples. Nothing else runs. Windowed gears gives me a guru.
-
Maybe i was lucky before cause everything worked back then.
I could run 2 windows of gears one 68k and one PPC. no problem what so ever.
-
WHOHO!! just got everything to work. Now i can run all demos and both 68k and PPC without any changes.
Just played GLQuake :) Will post all my settings soon.
