Title: Abuse sound problem AHI ?

I installed the game Abuse version 060 1.3. Problem is that the game gives a bus error. There's an update file on Aminet but my system reports that as not executable!

has anyone got the game running and could give me some pointers?

Fixed the executable problem by making it executable in the Info window.

But there's still the bus error...

Fixed the bus error by unchecking the direct video checkbox.

Still one problem to go and that's sound. The game uses AHI. I don't have a sound card so I tried AHI v6 with a paul driver. In AHI Prefs it gives sound but not in Abuse...

it seems that abuse does not like ahi6.0 ... on my system there is no sound, with paula or the ESS Solo-1 pci card... on the previous ahi version sound was working OK... I think abuse needs an update or perhaps an ahi bug... who knows...  :-?

I bought it when it first came out... LOL, a full CD for 5-6MB of data... I got it because of the ORIGIN logo on the box  :-D

nope, no crashes here.... do you have the correct ixemul.library for the 060???

For anyone who is interested in this game, the full version has now been released as freeware, here (http://www.webpages.uidaho.edu/~scot4875/). (This may be old news but I thought I'd post it anyway).

The file is a .exe so will need to be extracted with WinRAR under Windows or installed on a PC to get the data files out of it, but I'm assuming once copied over they are compatible with the Amiga Abuse engine.

I think I'll try this out later :-)

btw . . . just installed and tryed under MOS-Pup with AHI6.

No sounds here too. I'll try under AmigaOS and AHI4

EDIT- sound OK under AmigaOS with AHI4.x

Same problem reported by Flashlab with ixemul.library 48.2 (April 6 2001 060)

I have tried the ixemul library 48.2 for 060 and 48.0 and the 040 version of 47.3 and they all crash.

Seems to me that there's something wrong in the data files?

AHI v4 fixes the sound, but not the ixemul problem...
