Hello All,
I am Amiga 4000T and A3000T user, I was given an A500
with with 590 XT 20Meg hard drive.I was woundering
if the 590 is the same as 2091 hard scsi card for A2000 and
if so could I put nice 500Meg to 1Gig Scsi Hard Drive in it.Thanks for your help Merv :-)

afaik, it is the same card, can take 2mb of 16-bit dma memory like the a2091, has the dmac and WD scsi chips. The only difference, other than the form factor, it the A590 has the 8-bit XT implemented on the board whereas on the A2091 there are just solder holes where the XT header should be.

Hi
You sure can put a 50 pin SCSI disk in there. I have a 2 GB drive in mine (see sig) and it works fine. I think there is a jumper somewhere to change for SCSI. Can anyone confirm this? (I dont have my amiga with me. :-( )

The jumper (XT/SCSI) is actually only for the activity LED :-D
About using large(r) drives in the A590 it depends (just like with the A2091) on the EPROM version (7.0 recommended) and the version of the WD SCSI chip.
Sometimes drives appear to work, but as soon as you partition the upper part of the disk it will overwrite previous partitions!! So always do a full format on all your partitions, reboot and check if they are still there!
