Title: A1200 project questions
Post by: rossi46 on December 14, 2005, 09:41:58 PM
Hi all

I've got an A1200 coming in the post. Ive also got a ribbon cable from Ebay that claims to enable a pc hard drive to work in my 1200. I've got a maxtor 10gb drive to play with and I've got Winuae running sweetly on my pc.

What I'd like to ask is:

Do you think I'll be able to run my HD in the 1200? If so, what can I do in the meantime, in preparation for the arrival of my Amiga? What formatting/partitioning program do I need to 'aquire' for prepping my hd in my pc?

soz for all the questions, but any help would be magic

Cheers

Paul

If it's a stock A1200, a regular PC hdd won't fit in it.

it will fit with a little playing around and squeezing the case together

If youve got a 44pin-40pin IDE ribbon cable great that will work. You will need to get power to the drive as well by adding a power splitter to your existing setup. In terms of partitions if you are using WinUAE and it is setup right you can partition it with this and HDToolBox on emulated amiga should work fine
