It's an impressive accelerator, but I don't think it's worth that kind of money.

it's not just the accelerator... it's probably just as much the HDD (34.1 GB Ultra Wide SCSI would set you back quite a tidy sum, remember it's UW SCSI HDD) quite a lot of memory (not pricey but..., and a SCSI CD-R drive which also is quite expensive... I wouldn't pay 1700$, but it IS quite expensive stuff.

No it's not. We had this discussion before the last time this guy tried to sell this package for this much. Ultra320 drives don't cost all that much for low capacities and an old SCSI CD-R isn't worth that much either. The only thing that's worth a lot is the accelerator itself. This package is worth maybe $1000, but only because of the ridiculous prices people will pay for a CyberstormPPC.

Well, Software Hut wants $899.95 USD for that accelerator card. However this auction includes several other items, however overall it's not worth $1,700.

A few months ago I seen him auctioning an A1200
for $750.00 with a 70 meg HD, said it was VERY
rare :-D

An object is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay to possess it. Some people will pay millions for a Picasso, but is that worth it? If you desire it and can afford it, then yes. If you don't like it, or can't afford it, then it's too expensive.
This guy believes there are enough wealthy Amigans, or Amigans with enough desire, to pay his price. Good luck to him, but I wouldn't pay it.

He´re my 2cents. I recently bought a 36 Gb scsi hd on Ebay for 50 Euro, thought it was a normal price. As for CDRW´s, bought a few but none of them worked decently because of age. Now I bought an IDE to SCSI adapter and I want to connect a brandnew and brandcheap IDE CDRW to my SCSI chain, very cheap and very fast so don´t see why a real SCSI CDRW would be better ?! :-?
EDIT : okay, last year I bought a brandnew 36 Gb SCSI hd for 170 euro inclusive shipping, brandnew as in new and never used and never out of the plastic wrapping :lol:

IDE to SCSI adapters are perfect for Amigas. The speed is not lost as usually your controller can push anywhere from 7 to 10MB per second, so it's an ideal solution for not paying lots and lots of $$$ for authentic SCSI gear, as you will never push a CDRW or a hard drive to its potential limit.
In the PC world, it's still better to get genuine SCSI, as speeds that these converters offer are often not as fast as real SCSI would offer, so while they are a nice alternative, the real thing is still superior as far as the up-to-date standards and speed requirements are concerned. :-)
