What program would best allow me to convert iff and raw sound files into MP3?
I've got some rare lp records that I'd like to record. So far, I have a MegaLoSound program, and I'll be upgrading my A3000 soon to OS3.5 and adding a little memory, so what would work best with a 68030/25mhz Ami?

The only program I found was Pegase on Aminet Pegase (http://www.aminet.net/search.php?query=pegase).
It only makes mp2 audio files, but same quality as mp3.

To encode mp3s: lame-3.97b.lha (http://amiga.sourceforge.net/phps/logger.php?download=lame-3.97b.lha)
To convert iff to suitable format for lame: sox-12.17.7.lha (http://amiga.sourceforge.net/phps/logger.php?download=sox-12.17.7.lha)

And if you want to use a GUI for Lame, there is the MPEGEncGUI.
To encode some LPs, your 68030 will be busy several days/weeks I would guess :-)

here the latest thempegencgui (http://www.onyxsoft.se/files/thempegencgui.lha)
Its a Key-mail Ware program.
If you will use it, send a mail to the author and he will send a personalized key for you.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I wouldn't suppose there was a way to download it to an MP3 player directly from an Ami, is there?
p.s. what IS the difference between MPEG and MP3?
