Violence triggered by race tensions has hit Sydney for a second night, with youths damaging cars and shops.

A reporter in the suburb of Cronulla, where dozens were arrested after riots on Sunday, described scenes of "chaos".

Police said carloads of people had come into the area from other parts of Sydney and committed violent acts.

Australian Prime Minister John Howard condemned the weekend's attacks by thousands of young white men on people of Arabic and Mediterranean background.

Come come, I think that's a bit of a sweeping statement...;-)

you could argue that people only riot when they feel they have no other way of being heard

(I just think its a combination of many things, including people who just like a good ruck, or people who hate 'the establishment', or opportunists in for a bit of burnin', rapin', lootin' and a shootin', etc)

Large, organized groups of young, Middle Easter Muslim men were sending smaller groups of antagonists onto Australian beaches to harass young girls, surfers, and other beachgoers doing what Australians like to do—i.e., catch some waves, socialize, and generally kick back and enjoy a grand day at the beach. Then when these Muslim men were inevitably challenged by outraged Aussies, they'd call their homies in the parking lot on their cell phones and outnumber their challengers in a brawl. Um ... I've never seen anything like this before. Certainly not in Australia....

Actually, I'm supprised there are actually people - well, as many people as there were - who went out to do this.

I can't understand their mentality, though (for either side).

That's right...  Blame the Muslims... Next thing we'll be seeing posters of caricatured Muslim men perving over innocent Aryan women.

Oh, and metalman, would you please refrain from copying and pasting from external sources to put your point of view across.  We'd rather hear your own point of view, not that of another website.
