OK, first of all, sorry for my slow reply in regards to the WB grab I posted of my A500 surfing amiga.org (A500 Surfing the Net (http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=1192=7)). I didn't notice any of your comments posted as result until now, and have been away for a while working. I wanted to be able to surf the Web with my Amiga via my PC's high speed cable connection, while my daughter was using the PC.
In answer to your questions, my little A500 hardware is:
* DBK 2 MB Chip (GFX)
* GVP A530 Turbo w/8MB RAM housing * 68030 CPU w/68881 FPU.
* 3GB Quantum Fireball externally mounted in an old gutted 386 Desktop, with a Yamaha CDRW.
* ICD Flicker Free Video with a Samtron PC monitor connected.
Kickstart is version 40.63 and WB version 44.2 (OS 3.5).
The WB Prefs are:
* NTSC High Res Laced
* 16 Color
* MUI installed
The actual Internet connection is as follows:
* Null modem serial cable to a Windows XP machine connecting at 38400 BPS.
* The XP config required installation of the "Generic NULL Modem" device mdmcisco.inf included with the package NullTCP.lha (http://aminet.net/search.php?query=NULLTCP) from aminet. There is also some helpful documentation included in this package. It is generally aimed at having the Amiga share it's Internet connection with a PC, which was opposite of my my goal, but it works.
* ICS was achieved using "FreeProxy" available at
Hand Crafted Software (http://www.handcraftedsoftware.org/).
* The TCP/IP stack is handled on the Amiga using MiamiDX, which I am having no luck trying to get registered unfortunately (Any ideas here?).
Basically, my set up is having the XP machine 'dial-up' the Amiga using a user password that is validated by Miami. Both machines are assigned static IP addresses. The IP address of my ISP's DNS server is entered into Miami's database.
The amiga browser (AWeb or IBrowse) are configed to use the IP address of the PC and port 8080 as the proxy server. FreeProxy was set up with default settings and left as is, as my home networked is hidden behind a firewall router.
The actual picture is not 100% the same but is very close, as my WB pallette is not quite as dark. It is an screen grab using SGrabber from aminet dumped in IFF format. I then used PPAint to convert the image to GIF. I actually screwed this up, as I converted the image to 8 colors instead of 16, but you get the idea. I then uploaded the image directly from the Amiga, which worked surpisingly well.
Performance while surfing text based sites such as Aminet seem reasonably acceptable, while photo/GFX intensive sites are a bit slow, but hey, I purchased this machine back in 1986!
It is actually working well, as I no longer have to kick my daughter off the XP machine to gain access to the web, while I get complete uninterupted access via my Amiga, (of which my wife and daughter both have absolutely no interest in!)

Cool! Nice to get old hardware connected to the Internet!
I guess the 68030, extra RAM and HD make all the difference... wouldn't be much fun on a stock 68000-based machine!

Can you please tell me where can i find DBK 2MB chip?I have an A500 with Viper 520CD accelerator card which has a slot to fit the MiniMega Chip(1MB) but i can t find it anywhere.I ve search the Internet for someone who selling it but...damn!As yoy understand i have a very serious problem with only 512 chip ram....

You might want to search for "Mini Megi" as well as MiniMega. I searched forever for MiniMega and also couldn't find one, but managed to find a 2Mb Mini Megi (new!). I'd tell you where I got it, but I can't find the damn receipt. It was shockingly expensive - I think around $160 US. Did you try Softhut?

It's "only" $129 US, not $160. (...so looking at the price, you'll only get a nose bleed, rather than a hernia ;-) )
