It has links for more info within the Auction on the Big Book of Hardware

I have never seen that PAL Jr Board in person till recently. I believe it also adds memory and 2 Zorro II compatible Zorro slots!.
-
Well it sounds like the hard drive controller uses one of the slots and if there is a memory card installed in addition to the RAM onboard the PAL Jr that would consume the second.
Still a neat piece of hardware though.

I've got one, mines the one in the Big Book of Amiga Hardware. There are only 2 Zorro 1 slots, which are Zorro 2 compatable. The one board is a hard drive controller and the other is a Ram card. It will take any half length zorro card, so you could put whatever you wanted in it. The original drive controller is not autoboot and requires special startup sequence. It's heavy and the $40-$70 dollar shipping charge seems right.
-
Ehm, from the looks on The Big Book it doesn´t seem to be a scsi harddrive. Is that correct ???
-
I've got something similar for the A500, it sits underneath and gives 2 zorro II slots
-
Oops, your correct, it's an MFM controller and drive. Been awhile since I looked at it.
I'll try to get better pictures to BBAH during my Christmas break.
-
I assume you could mount a Z2 scsi controller in it, the kind of half sized Zorro card without space to mount a hd ...
-
Yep, I've got a half length Supra SCSI card for it and it fits perfectly, without the rails of course.
-
Cool !! Then you can use kick 3.1 and a 36 Gb scsi hd !!
-
Probably, the 1000 has a Kickstart switcher in it with 1.3 and 2.0 on it. I can gut a 3.1 rom from my 2000 and get it up to 3.9 :-D
-
But then you would need a turboboard like a Viper520 or so :-o
-
3.9 needs an accelerator? It's been so long since I had an un-accelerated Amiga I can't remember. Oh well, it's only money :-)
-
In the past I had an A2000 for a short time and it had an A2630 turboboard with 4 Mb Ram and the Chip was 1 Mb. I added a CV64/3D just to check out how far it would go, replaced the kick 2.0 by a 3.1 and installed OS3.9. It worked for sure, but very slowly, especially the gfx came up slow :boohoo: Maybe if you get 2 Mb Chip that it might work a lot faster :-? But 2 Mb Chip on an A1000 :-?
