Title: C64's, Paddles, Music Keyboard, & Power Supplies
Post by: XDelusion on December 12, 2005, 02:45:31 AM
First off, I'd like to know where I can score a working C64 for cheap? Also what is the best model? The first or second? I know I've seen 5 old models die, but I've only had 1 newer model.

Second off do I need C64 padels, or will my old Atari 2600 paddles work?

Where can I find a music keyboard overlay for the C64, are they cheap?

How do I build a C64 power supply out of a PC power pack? Will my hacked 1200 one work?

P.S. I know about ebay, so please don't say Ebay. Thankx!

Hi there......interesting you posted this.....as I have a C64 I want to get rid of.

Only thing is that it is PAL from the UK..but I have a Transformer that somehow you rig to work with the Powersupply. Also have the Disk drive.

all yours for $5.  of course you gotta pay for shiping...I will throw in an Epyx Joystick.

Alos I have a friend who has that Piano keyboard overlay for the C64..........trying to get that for myself :-)  But if I do.....its only temporary.

I found the answer to one of the questions in case anyone was curious:
-----------------
Atari paddles will work, but Commodore paddles are better. The
resistor values are different, so the Atari paddles end up being much
more sensitive -- it only takes a very small amount of turning to
sweep the entire range of the filter. The Commodore paddle is less
sensitive and the range is comparable to a normal filter cutoff knob.
