Hi, I've bought an A600 on ebay and I'm really not sure if it's faulty or if I'm doing something wrong.
I'm pretty certain it's tuned in OK, when I turn it on I get a black screen, power light is on but no disk activity.
Can anyone help please?

What do you have it connected to? If you are certain it is connected properly, then try the following (in this order if you wish):
-Remove any RAM cards from belly
-Reseat the ROM chip
-Remove the HD (A faulty drive will lock up, happened to me)
-Remove the shielding to see any obvious damage
Anything short of that you may have a dead A600. Contact Amiga Center of France if you wish to repair, or buy another from Europe (It's cheaper!)

TjLaZer:
Thanks for the suggestions
-Remove any RAM cards from belly
Nope there's none there
-Reseat the ROM chip
I've pressed down on all the chips I can see
-Remove the HD (A faulty drive will lock up, happened to me)
Non-HD A600
-Remove the shielding to see any obvious damage
Couldn't see anything wrong.
One further observation, if I leave it on at the black screen it seems to start after an hour (or so)
Weird!

OK one of mine did the same thing! It was leaky caps that ruined some traces, if I left it on it eventually came up. Like it needed to warm up.
Jean at Amiga Center repaired it for me for around $50 with a fast turnaround! About 2 weeks from Seattle to Paris? ;)

Black screens on anything with an OCS is not good. You should get some colours presenting themselves onscreen before any WB symbol. Please refer to http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/selftest.html

Is the screen completely black or just dark grey? In addition to the caps TjLazer mentioned near the power supply input, you could have a bad cia chip (in which case you'd get a dark grey screen with no floppy access).
