Title: Best settings for PIV's flicker fixer?
Post by: MrZammler on December 03, 2005, 07:12:51 PM
I've noticed when I'm playing a game through the PIV's ff, scrolling (i.e. in gianna sisters) makes some hick-ups (sorry I'm not sure of a better way to describe this). It's just that the scrolling is not ultra-smooth as it should be.

Output from the A3000's onboard ff is perfect.

I was wondering if other's with PIVs experience something similar, or if there is something that can be tweaked from PicassoModeTNG. (stuff like sync time, polarity etc).

My Picasso gives a very dark picture. Even when I put the brightness of my monitor at max. Can this be fixed with PicassoModeTNG?

@MrZammler:

If I understand it correctly, you can set the refreshrate of the PicassoIV flickerfixers output freely. To make it synchronise with say PALs 50Hz refreshrate, you would need to set the refreshrate of the PicassoIV flickerfixer to an even multiple of PALs refreshrate which would be either 50Hz or 100Hz. With NTSC that would be 60Hz or 120Hz.

@patrik

Ahh, damn... Can you imagine I didnt even try 50Hz? Default seemed to be 49Hz and I was messing with it and well over that.

Anyway, 50Hz seems to do the trick, thanks.

Edit: On further check, it seems it's much much better than before, but there still is some tiiiiiny problem ;-) Not noticable, unless you're looking for it. So, there might be some magical values to get it right, I guess for both vertical and horizontal refresh?
