An A1200 in it's original case, with hard drive, and external CDROM, and one of these bad boys...

The only thing that sucks it that there is no GFX chip on there. :(

T'would be nice, but I ain't gonna get wet until I actually know one has been completed. (My time at A Org has turned me into a cynic - no disrespect to anyone involved)
Shark anyone? ;-)

Tuttut. You've become a realist. That's not the same as a cynic. A cynic, like me for example (cynic, cymric, it's practically the same word already), would say:
What in blazes is the point of prolonging the life of obsolete hardware without proper software?
Who gives a <4 letter word> about this gizmo when he can have a computer with specs at a price which would put all this guy's hard effort to shame?
But I'm not. I'm in a happy mood today :-P. But I hope you don't mind if I run for them thar hills all the same :-D.

If the devolpers of the said card are reading this forum, they can be rest assured I am ready to purchase one, pre-order if need be, when the hardware enters production.
Just me .02

I'd like one too. My A1200 could use some fresh vapor.
Seriously though, I'd really buy one if they came out.
-
And if a mini-PCI to PCI backplane adapter was made for towerization, I'd become an A1200 convert. That's some badass specs for a card capable of fitting INSIDE the A1200 case.
-
It'd be a nice companion for my A3k, I'd buy a 1200 and the PowerVixxen for that price as soon as it's available - if it becomes available. It's been nearly a year since the announcement and nothing has been heard of since... :-(

well i dont trust to belive it enugh yet they all seem to say wait for os4 then it will be here weird isent it?
adonay :-D
-
I'd buy one. Shame it probably won't happen though :-(

Man, you guys are all so jaded! Anyone would think the Amiga community has been burnt by phoney hardware promises before :-P
I'm hoping that this one will not evapourate, I think it stands a better chance than some of the others. IIRC the designer was involved with designing the microA1, and he's also part of the OS4 team. Also the fact it seems to be a fairly simple peice of kit also helps me enthuse about it a little more.
As a nifty bonus it also works sans A1200.

:-o
I didn't see that part!
What would it be without the 1200, some kind of cut-down A1?

Damn, I *need* this. Oops, wait, it says
"Since the OS4 will be bundled with the card, there is no major meaning to release any product before OS4 is done". Mm... I though that the point of the MPC 5200 was that is is NOT a PPC CPU !
(final) OS4 is PPC-only OS, am I right ?
I'm confused, because if the MPC 5200 IS a PPC (it very much seems so), then why should I prefer it over the (way faster) G3 ? Specially if this board "does not need a 1200" ????
Maybe I'm mistaking it w/ the ColdFire... I mean, Freescale, if I'm understanding this righ, is NOT a CPU, but a BRAND, exactly the Motorola's CPU division that we know & Mm.. love..? ;)
And other things are quite unclear, like in the specs :
"AC97 audio CODEC (automatically integrated with Paula)"
Mm...
Wake me up when it's done, if ever. On the other hand, I'd like to know what exactly IS this CPU we're talking 'bout, and for that matter, what it's not.
BTW, what would happen if I order this (http://www.vesalia.de/?V02b0f1451544414715a5d57520b565b4707104946414752050140090a1e31115579633a223c6373744e03263f2a2a76610539626a6322687c2e347d40190a63754c5a1f726a4b594d585358425d5c17444c6e51561e5b4) ? Would I receive something that reads "Voucher for a Dragon when it's done" ? :-?
Me, I only want to do FAST 2D anim with DPaint and SCALA. AFAIK, my only options are a plain 68k or a ColdFire. Given the status of the latter, I'm left with only ONE option. Heh, it could be worse ;)
If I want a OS4 machine (and well sometimes I do) I'll buy an AmigaOne, so why the need for this ?

No don't wake him up! He might be dreaming the whole thing!

The A1200 Trapdoor slot has provision to resistively mix a stereo audio signal with the standard Paula audio and output it via the RCA's at the back of the A1200. Very simple really.

So this board can run itself alone without the need of a 1200? Cool!!!, i will keep an eye on it, but i will believe when i see it.
Hope it's get released.

This IS a PPC chip, what makes it special is that it not only contains the processor, but also other functions often found on other chips. Basically a system on a chip. This makes it easier to create a card that will fit in an A1200, it's also cheaper than building a full motherboard. The chip also has the nice feature that it consumes very little power.
If I want a OS4 machine (and well sometimes I do) I'll buy an AmigaOne, so why the need for this ?
Well if they manage to ship this in the form they suggest, then you'll not only get all the PPC goodness of OS4, but you'll also get access to AGA still. Also for me the idea of having a PPC plus all the other goodies in an A1200 desktop case, is brilliant. My only complaint is that damn MiniPCI instead of a GFX chip.

I never knew that, shame no-one's ever taken advantage of it AFAIK.
-
Yes. You can genlock a whole separate video source through the AGA Lisa chip and feed an audio source through the Paula as well.
