Greetings! I just took delivery today of a Viper Mk II 030 board (with 68882) and 16MB edo simm. Upon insertion into my A1200s trapdoor (hmmm...that sounds vaguely dirty), I was greeted only with a hard drive whir and a pretty light purple boot screen....
After a bit of troubleshooting, I noticed that it boots up very well with the simm removed. The system showconfig ap shows the 030 and FPU and lists and unknown board (HD? + Rom) under the boards list...
The 1200 is running kickstart 3.1 and WB3.0 (soon to be 3.9 if I can get the ram working and a cd hooked up).
When the 16mb wouldn't work, I pulled 4 32mb simms from a next turbo to try...no dice...purple friggin' screen.
Any troubleshooting thoughts would be appreciated.

Okay...apparently I need to read the forums more. The viper mark II (alias DKB cobra) has a firmware issue with 3.1 roms. According to another post on the site, I just need to run the dkb.ferret boot disk to upgrade the firmware. I'll find a pc with a floppy drive tomorrw, so that I can xdms the dms image to adf, compress it and copy it to a double density floppy which can be carried to the a1200 tomorrow for cross dossing...ugh...

GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
Thanks to all, I now have the amiga purring along with it's 68030/68882 combo and 32mb of fastram (I'm sure I must have a 128mb stick around somewhere). I am now just one scsi adapter away from getting 3.9 on this puppy (need some way to hook up the cdrom drive).
