Sygate will discontinue their free product on December 2005.

What is the best replacement for the free firewall product?
Thank you.

Windows XP has a basic firewall built in. I use ZoneAlarm also, and they have a free version of their app. Visit www.zonealarm.com - You can download the free version at this link... Free Version and System scan. (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en)
I used to use sygate long ago. It had many good features, but was always buggy on my win98. ZoneAlarm works great, but it's configuration is alien compared to Sygate. (especially the free version).

Sygate is the only worthwhile software firewall IMO. No detectable unwanted traffic has got through it here in the time I've used it. Mind you, I set the active response time (blocking IP from which any kind of scan originates) to a week (default is 10 mins)
