Hi,
I've "updated" my Cyberstorm MK2 with the unofficial Bodylove firmware; the one with the A1000 jingle on boot. Problem is that since the update after sometime the keyboard stops working. When I unplug it and then put it in again it works again.
Could this be from the Mk2 update?
-
Hmm...
I can't find any other firmware files to restore my MK2.
Does anyone know where to find it?
-
You can get install disks here. (http://amiga.resource.cx/install/install.pl)
Scroll down to Cyberstorm MKII. It is the SCSI tooldisk you want. Read the instructions carefully before using MKupdate. I will check which version my board came with because there are two disks available: V2.2 and V2.4
-
Okay I checked and my board came with V2.1 but I know that I got the next update from a mate, so that would mean if I were you I would go for V2.2 at least.
-
The MK2Update program says it only updates the SCSI driver...
-
Yep I tried it and only the SCSI part is updated.
Could you read an image from your firmware and mail that to me please?
-
@ flashlab
The SCSI MKupdate is the only flash update I know about on the MKII.
-
Here is the page I found:
http://www.neodyne.de/bodylove/downloads.html
The program MKxDiag is what I used.
There is also a program to make a backup of your current firmware called MK2Backup. Could you please make an image from your MK2?
I flashed my MK2 without backing up... STUPID!
-
Unfortunately I don't have the MKII setup at all (I have PPC now). The MKII is in storage. But if nobody else offers I will swap them over and do it.
-
Ah ok.
Hope someone can help me!
-
@Flashlab:
Are you sure the keyboard just havent turned flaky?
/Patrik
-
Could be but I've tried two keyboards with my computer and the problem started when I flashed my MK2. So just to be sure I want to flash it back.
How do you enter the bootmenu of the MK2?
-
@ Flashlab
I think you need manuals. I recently gave English scans of both the MKII and the CyberSCSI module manuals to the guys at Big Book of Amiga Hardware. Head over there and download them.
Big Book (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/)
A4000 accelerators --> Phase 5 --> Cyberstorm MKII 060
-
Thanks, I read them but there is nothing there about the firmware unfortunately.
-
No no, that was to help you with your 'boot menu' question ;-)
-
I thought it was only the MK3 that had the bootmenu?
I've got a Mk2 040 here with the v8.9 firmware, I can grab the firmware tomorrow ..bit of a shortage of power sockets right now!
-
@ X-Ray
He he, didn't get that one :) But there's no mention of a bootmenu; so I guess the MK2 doesn't have one then...
@ Doobrey
If you could do that for me that would be great!
-
Ja, when you asked about the boot menu I knew you didn't have manuals. :-)
@ Doobrey
Is the firmware the same whether it is an 040 or 060 MKII?
-
I have the MKII with a 060 on it and I ofcourse i would like to help you, if you can give me a link to where i can get the firmware update program so that i may send the firmware to you.
-
@nex4060
The backup program can be found here:
http://www.neodyne.de/bodylove/downloads.html
It is in the MKxDiag software and called MK2backup.
I tried my 4000 with my 030 card and I don't get keyboard lockups... So I do think it is the firmware on the MK2 that is causing faults.
-
Hmmm.... I read the docs from the archive and I don't see how I restore the firmware back to its original state even when I have a correct image.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
-
OK, I managed to grab the firmware from my Mk2 040, the docs say it's the same firmware in both 040 and 060, it also has the cybscsi.device v8.6 in it.
I've got no idea howto flash it back though, couldn't see anything in the Mk2diag docs, is Carlsten still about?
Anyway.. the firmware (http://www.doobreynet.co.uk/files/mk2flash.lha)
-
Thanks!
I don't know how to flash it back either:) but i'll give it a try with different options...
-
Well I couldn't find out how to flash it back, but I formatted my HD and isntalled a basic OS3.1 with v1.3 of the libs and the problem hasn't returned. So I guess it's a library problem and not the firmware. Pfheww !! :)
