Hi guys
I've been given an NEC Multisync monitor from work. As well as a VGA input it has five BNC inputs, labelled as follows:
R
G (/SYNC)
B
HS/CS
VS
I am hoping that the monitor will sync down to 15KHz so I can connect my A1200's RGB out to it. To test this, I wired up a scart cable as follows:
SCART | BNC
--------+----------
7 | BLUE OUT
5 | BLUE GND
9 | GREEN GND
11 | GREEN OUT
13 | RED GND
15 | RED OUT
I connected the scart cable to an output and the BNCs to the monitor, but when I toggled the monitor to its BNC input it just displayed No Signal. The output was definitely outputting.
I'm guessing that one of two things is happening - either the monitor won't sync low enough or I need something connected to the HS/CS and VS BNCs. I can't find a technical specification for the monitor to check the refresh rate range, so my only option is to try connecting something to the other two BNCs and see if that works. If it doesn't then I guess I'll have to assume it's the refresh rate.
Problem is, I don't know which pins (if any) from the scart I could connect to those other 2 BNCs.
Any help would be much appreciated!

HS/CS is Horizontal Sync/Composite Sync
VS is Vertical Sync
What model is it? Perhaps someone else has information.

The model is NEC LA-1831. On the front it says Multisync 1810. I've already asked here and nobody seemed to know anything about it :-(
I don't think scart has any sync lines, does it? If so would it work on one of the sync connections on this monitor?

scart HAS sync lines..
you can conect the composite out of your scart to your HS/CS..
if I remember correctly that must be enought. if not then you need to check for vertical sync on scart too..
also some output machines has sync on green .. I don't remember if amiga is one of them....

Thanks guys. I've just found this:
http://www.jeacle.ie/pub/articles/scart/ (http://www.jeacle.ie/pub/articles/scart/)
It shows a composite sync on an Amiga -> Scart cable. I've ordered a cable from eBay (couldn't find a 23 pin D connector to build it myself :-x )
It's late now so tomorrow I will connect the composite output from the scart cable to another BNC and connect to the CS on the monitor. If it works then when the Amiga -> Scart cable arrives I'll cut off the scart plug and connect the BNCs. If it doesn't work then I'll just buy an LCD screen with both VGA and Scart inputs.
Thanks again

According to the user guide, it only supports 24-80kHz horizontal and 56-76Hz vertical.

Hi, thanks for letting me know! Where did you find it, I couldn't get hold of it anywhere. Looks like I will have to get a new LCD with a scart input.
Cheers

@MarkAshley:
You are forgetting to wire any sync-signals to the monitor. Without them no monitor will work. Just use something equivalent to this this (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=733) in combination with something equivalent to this (http://www.pearl.de/p/PE8217-Anschlusskabel-f-VGA-Monitor-mit-5-BNC-Steckern.html), then you cant get it wrong.

www.nec.com has the user guide for download.

@Patrik
That looks like what I would need, but adolescent has told me that it will only sync down to 24KHz :-(
@Adolescent
I did look on the NEC web site but couldn't find it. Thanks for letting me know the info.
I'm actually going to go for one of these (http://www.lektropacks.com/view_item.php?product=46&&category=13).
Cheers
