One the best footballers of all time passed away today.
Probably the best player never to make it to a world cup.
A truly gifted player who unfortunately succumbed to the booze.

That is unfortunate. Not meaning to sound horrible, but I wish he'd died yesterday. The families must've been having a hard time since his bleeding started.

I don't think the media helped them much either. Maybe it's just me, but every radio and TV news bulletin came across as "He's not dead yet, tune in again in another hour". We all knew he was seriously ill and his chances were slim, there was no need for the media to be circling like vultures

That's kinda all we've heard over the past so many years. His memory's been tarnished by the media. {bleep}s.

Rest In Peace George.
Truly a genious and the most gifted player this earth has seen.

Very sad times in the sporting world and here in Ireland, we have lost a true football genius and easily the best sportsman to comes from these shores.
Its not often i say this but i wish i was older, that way i could have seen him play in the flesh, for his country.
He is being buried here on Friday and an expected 500k people are expected to line the streets, i feel i got to be 1 of them..

Apparently, I saw him play for Hibs, against Rangers, when I was a kid.
Unfortunately, whilst I remember him playing for Hibs, I don't remember the game in question.
(Funnily enough, Hibs play Rangers tomorrow.)
My memories of Georgie are all from TV footage.
My Dad maintains he was the best player the world has ever seen.

It's sad that in the media coverage his talent is always overshadowed by his lifestyle :-(
