Title: Sun computer - free to good home - come pick it up
Post by: Oldsmobile_Mike on November 14, 2005, 03:03:01 AM
Somebody please take this off my hands:

This Sun SparcClassic computer has been sitting at my mother's house for over a year (since I moved out).  I got it for free to try to practice Solaris & various forms of Linux on, but never was able to get it working.  After testing with another monitor it seems it's video output isn't working, and good luck finding a video card for these things.  If I remember correctly it was loaded up with ram and a SCSI hard drive and optical drive, as well as a neat clamshell case that might make a good home for a mini-Amiga.

It is located in Burke, which is in Northern Virginia.  Please don't ask about shipping, since it weighs a ton.  I'd just like to give it a home...

Thanks in advance!  :-)

Ah isn't that a sparc IPX? Might want to note that video isn't needed for Sun servers as you can connect to a command line console via the serial port from hyperterm/Secure CRT/or any term program that talks to the serial port. Can do anything in Solaris via the console including installing Solaris OS, config, setup.

Just my .02 to help ;-)
