I don't know why AIDS would be the thing to scare people into safe sex, there are MANY more common things you can get...
Take Herpes for example, 1 OUT OF 5 PEOPLE have herpies. In a room with 4 other people? If they don't have it, YOU DO!
/me crawls back to my plastic bubble.

And that's why it is not a good idea to go out with someone who has 'cold sores' or has had a cold sore. It isn't a nice thing to have to ask, but if she says she has had a cold sore, there is no intimate contact. And that is just HSV1 I am talking abut, never mind HSV2.

I can answer that: testing for a lethal virus is not a pleasant thing to do. And since he he had already been diagnosed once with HIV, he won't put himself through the ordeal again. Give him a few months to years to come back to Earth again: he's probably skyhigh on endorphines right now.

Am I correct in understanding that you won't copulate/kiss with someone who has had a coldsore in the past, or did you mean with someone who currently has one?
AFAIK if you have never had a cold sore in your life you are immune to them.
My sister and I get them, my Dad does, but my Mum doesn't. My son doesn't, and neither does his mother.
I wouldn't let someone with a coldsore go down on me though!

According to AIDS expert in Australia, the AIDS virus on the particular person is a result of defective mutation / strain. The lab should test the liver / lymph of the person to test if the virus still exist on his body.
Several people are born immune to HIV because of CCR5 negative gene. The HIV virus may develop slowly without becoming AIDS.
Major companies had developed new drugs targetting CCR5.
http://www.searchforacure.org/main.asp
"Some people don't get infected with HIV - they are born immune. Scientists have figured why. Some people are born without a CCR5 receptor - a type of door on T cells.
Several companies are developing drugs which lock this 'door'. These drugs are called CCR5 'antagonists'.
Scientists are pretty sure these new drugs will be safe because they have studied people born without CCR5 receptors and discovered they are pretty much like everyone else - they don't die younger than other people, they don't get sick more often. They seem normal."
https://ssl.thebody.com/sfac/ccr5.html
"Studies show these drugs are not only powerful, but they successfully fight virus resistant to all the other kinds of drugs currently available. Because this class of drugs might be more powerful when used together, it is not a waste of time for each company to develop its own.
CCR5 antagonists are very different from any other kind of HIV medicine and because of this, might have some special uses as well as some special problems."

Hasn't there been recorded instances of sex workers in Africa being infected and reinfected with HIV many times over, but who show no trace of the virus in their bloodstream?

Hum,
It seems that the clinic that initially told the man his body had rid itself of HIV now says the man did not have the virus in the first place.
"It is probably there was never any evidence of him having the HIV virus. We don't know exactly what happened" - Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust.
The clinic initially told Andrew Stimpson, he had contracted the virus, and then later told him that by some miracle, his body had got rid of the disease.
One bonus point goes to the person that said it was a scam...

Man, remember when "mono" was the big deal?
