Title: Greetings from Greece
Post by: divined on November 11, 2005, 07:28:39 PM
Hello everybody

I`m 32 years old and work as a programmer & Electronic Enginner. I  own a very ancient OCS Amiga 500, alas with upgraded BIOS, oops, Kickstart 2,0 and a full MB of memory. I haven`t used it much since 1995 and am just trying to remember how the whole thing works, using WinUAE.
If I find this endeavour intriguing, I might decide to search for an old A1200 or A4000 somewhere out there!!!

It is still so good to hear that many synpatriots (wow!) of mine have still in their hearts this fine computer-concept(in fact it is worse than Olympiakos supporters etc). Just keeping things they love for themselves unfolding many good memories...Greece (for the people of the forum who are not aware of) is a country that Amiga had a lot of success. In fact I didn't know that still kicks!! Cheers guys! Sensible soccer anyone?

Yeap, damn lot of Greek people around here.

So, if some of our abroad friends would like to chat (maybe remember some of the language) get your irc clients, and connect to us.irc.gr if you're from US or Australia, or eu.irc.gr if you're in Europe. Pop into #amigahellas, you'll find most of us there mostly during late hours (>10pm Hellenic time).

Egkefalos Computers still strives on Solomou str., if I can recall correctly. I can remember a time in the late 80s when me and my brother would visit that store in pursuit of a good computer game bargain for our Amiga 500.
This woman (the keeper?) would practically fill our arms with all these computer game boxes, explaining the prowess of each title, until we could hold no more. On some occassions I thought of walking out of there with all these games.   Fortunately, I never did!

The best of times, for Amiga dudes!!!

"You forgot to mention the notorious kapsoulis brothers!"

xexexe, KleftorSoft. :P

kalwshr8es in Amiga.org ;-)

That woman in egkefalos computers was hilarious. A friend of mine every time we passed outside of that computer shop, he wanted that we enter just for the fun of seeing her. If you asked her about a title, any title she was always answering that they have it, even if it was the first time ever that she heard of it. One day he asked her if they have Godzilla versus Jordan (michael) lol and she said of course we have it... just go up stairs.

No need to mention that the prices for hardware where absurd! You could get an external drive for an Amiga for less than 5000 drahmas (10 GBpounds ~ 18 USdollars ~ 15 EU) even at my neighbourhood's farmacy store!! Whenever I was going inside, I could hear the X-copy's TOIOIOIOIOIOIONK!!! sound playing consequetively. The woman (Soula?) was always standing by the door and she was shouting like she was in the fish market naoum! Anyway...good days though!
