Title: CyberstormPPC / SCSI problems
Post by: gdanko on November 05, 2005, 08:07:23 AM
I am having a problem with my CyberstormPPC enabled 3000T. With the card installed I cannot boot off a SCSI hard disk.

Machine specs:
Amiga 3000T
CyberstormPPC @ 233 MHz
2MB chip RAM, 72MB fast RAM
OS 3.1

Scenario 1: Connect one end of the SCSI cable to the on-board SCSI, hard disk in the middle, terminator on the end.
Result 1: Nothing happens. Holding down both mouse buttons and looking at possible boot devices only shows me DF0. SCSI disk is invisible to the 3000.

Scenario 2: Connect one end of the SCSI cable to the CSPPC SCSI, hard disk in the middle, terminator on the end.
Result 1: I can see the drives in the boot screen but cannot boot the OS.

I have installed the OS and Phase 5 drivers. I can boot the hard disk without the CSPPC in place. I can boot the OS via floppy if no hard disk is plugged in. But once I try to boot off the CSPPC/hard disk combination I have problems.

Is there something I am missing or should have done?
Thanks ;)

The Cyberstorm UW scsi controller should be in the middle of your chain, with an active terminator at both ends.  Ideally, you need a cable with at least 4 connectors, though I get by with three by using the active termination on the harddrive itself on one end of the chain.  But since the Cyberstorm controller has no termination, you absolutely must have an active termintor on the end of the chain after the controller.

Try this:

Terminator<->Hardrive<->Cyberstorm<->Terminator
