Title: impactvision 24 and rgb splitter manual
Post by: Rod_cl on November 02, 2005, 02:30:31 AM
Hi:
i just arrived from buenos aires with my new toys. An Amiga 4000 desktop and a 1942 Monitor. The amiga came with an impactvision 24 and a rgb splitter from GVP. Any one has the user manuals to both hardware? Is there any software available?

Saludos

Rod

Software can be downloaded from amiga hardware database.
Not sure about the manual.
The software doesn't work with os 3.9 maybe it does without a boingbag update(s)?

Congratulations on your recent arrival of the A4000 and ImpactVision24.  I have the manuals for the ImpactVision24 packed away somewhere, but will not be selling them.  If you have specific questions after you have downloaded the software from the Internet, I can find which box they are in and try to answer a few questions for you.  If you find that you do not wish to keep the IV24, I would be interested in purchasing it and the RGB splitter to have as a back-up for mine.

I have read that there were two models of the IV24 made and that only the later model works on the A4000, but have never confirmed that, but it might be your problem.  I only use it in A2000 or A3000.  What monitor are you using it with?  Did you install the software before you installed the IV24?  The IV24 has a switch to toggle between 15kHz and 31kHz output, the 15kHz will flicker with most screen resolutions and color choices.  I have used an incomplete IV24 just for the flicker fixer in an A2000 before.

I am still looking for the manuals, I had them just a week ago, but have not found the correct box they were put in and fear that they are behind many that were packed afterwards.  I will get to them, but it may take a week or so, as I am in the process of inventorying all of my collection to decide what is going to be kept and what is going up for sale/auction.  I had someone help move all the boxes that had Amiga items in them from storage to my living room today, except the few that I had already emptied and repacked two weeks ago and the wife is going to freak when she gets home and sees how much (what she might call junk) is filling the whole room.  There is hardly any walking space there are so many boxes.  You might be able to find the manuals on the Net faster than waiting for me, and I really don't have the time to scan all the pages for you anyway.  Like I said before, I will be glad to answer a few questions or copy a couple of pages, but not the whole book.

As far as I can tell the only difference beetween the A4000 version and earlier versions is that the A4000 version supports the extra color resolution of AGA (as evidenced by the greater number of video slot pins it has). I have the older version in my A4000 and it works fine (apart from not supporting more colors anyway).

Msko:
do you have the GVP Video Interface Unit / RGB Splitter too?
Could you explain me the basic functions and operation?
Best Regards

I have the Component Transcoder not the RGB splitter, but from what I can tell the Component Transcoder is a superset of what the RGB splitter can do.

The IV24 can do a number of things. It can act as a scandoubler, video card (though only through EGS), genlock and video grabber.

The scandoubler is pretty simple and can be controlled via the IV24 utilities or through the switch on the back of the card. The lower and middle positions both enable the scandoubler, though I'm not sure if there is a difference between the middle and down positions. Software control is achieved through the IVCP program.

Without a better idea of what you want to do with the card, it's hard to proceed further than this.

MskoDestny:
i got the card and the splitter 2 weeks ago. Right now it's not installed as i don't know how to connect both and what are it's primary uses. I have the software installed.
And the only time i installed it, i experienced a heavy flickering on screen.
Best Regards,

Rod
