My Blizzard 1240 is running at 33MHz at the moment, but I would like to get as much as I can out of it. What is the fastest oscillator I could use with it? I think it's 40MHz but I want to check.
Thanks
Mark

The official max is 40 Mhz with a 80 Mhz crystal, but I have heard of 42 Mhz too ...

I am running an Apollo 1240/25 @ 40Mhz (80Mhz crystal) with no problems whatsoever.
Just don't forget to place an appropriate heatsink and (486-)fan on your 68040.

My 040 was supplied with 33MHz. Is this what I need?

Are you sure you need a square oszillator? I only found Blizzards (altough 40Mhz version) with non-square oszillators (see http://www.amiga-hardware.com/ ).
Just be sure to choose the right one (either 8 or 14-pin DIL).

I replace osc. on my B1240/40 Mhz (80MHz Osc) with 100Mhz one.
Now Sysinfo show 55Mhz. (41MHz with 80MHz osc.)
I aslo have cooler on CPU installed.
Work PERFECTLY 2 years.
Regards.

@MarkAshley: For how many Mhz is the 68040 on the Blizzard rated? Maybe you can post the CPU code here. I just doubt that a 68040 rated at 25 or 33 Mhz will work with anything more than 40 Mhz.
