Hi all!
I suppose i should introduce myself as Im really starting to like it here!
Im an Amiga user from back in the day who lost their direction a few years back & fell upon windows for all my main work. Kept my A1200 for just playing with & then put it to early retirement in favour of UAE. Now having UAE stable & it just not feeling right I just HAVE to get my trusty A1200 out & runing again :-D
Been using UAE on my Athlon 64 3400+ using OS3.9 but really really want to go back to using my A1200 030/40 so Im turning to you guys. Please get me back on the right track & as far away from MS as possible!!!!
Anyway, Its nice to meet you all

Tuning !! It´s an addiction but it will give you a lot of fun ! Put a real turboboard in it, from 1230 to 1260/PPC, maybe even a tower with pci busboard, the more the better !!!!

That was always my dream! I always wanted to tower my A1200 or get a A4000. At the time as a college kid I needed something to use that would help me with the stuff I needed to do there & ended up stuck with Windows. I kinda lost my direction from there making short stops back with my A1200 & then UAE.
Now Im back & really want to make my dream come true... although the A1 looks soooo tempting....
Time to talk to those lovely people at the bank

You should go for the 500 with the '030 or a 4000/'030. Greatness.

AmigaOS 4 prerelease 2 is really nice. AmigaOne hardware isn't all it's cracked up to be. We're holding out now for the Troika Ami '05 motherboard but it's not out yet. Also there's some PPC accelerator boards slated to be coming out soon for the A1200 so maybe it might not be time to talk to the bank people just yet. The old systems aren't as dead as the Windows freaks would hope. ;-)

Welcome back to the Amiga :-)

Thanks for the support & encouragement!!!
New PPC boards for A1200?? :-D :-D
Might keep hold of the 030 for a while longer then & see what these are like. Any idea of spec yet?
Any recomendations for software I can run? I mainly need web, word pro, just the usual stuff. Used to use Kindwords but that was years ago.

I got mostly new parts and built an A1200 towered with a 66MHz 68060 going. See pics:

It's not the first A1200 tower I built tho...

It's fun work. Give it a shot. Parts were much harder to find, I confess, in early 2004 than they were in late 2000.

Yes, there is more information here (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=45781).
There will be two boards released, one for desktops and one which will only fit in towered A1200's. They will ship in Q1 2005.

AmigaWriter from Haage & Partner is (afaik) the only still-developed Amiga wordprocessor. For a web browser, try iBrowse.
