Was 1084S 15" or 14"? I really can't tell no longer.

It's not 15 or 14, it's a 13" Monitor! "The Commodore 1084S is a full-color, 13 inch monitor for use with the Commodore 64, Commodore 128, Commodore PC and the Amiga family of computers."

I never got one, but the Philips and the Highscreen Multisync work quite well...

The 1084 has a 14" tube of which 13" are visible. It's even bigger than the M1438 which is sold as 14".

Ok, I guess I'll when I go buy a new amiga monitor shout from the door at the salesman "Pass me that 13 incher than, eh"

Usually the tube size is rated, hence the 1084 was a 14".
Go and measure your 17" CRT, you'll find a visable size of less than 17" - that's why a 15" TFT has nearly the same size as a 17" CRT. Stupid but standard.
My Sony 17sf has 15.75" and my ADI 5A 15.36" usable diagonal.
