Title: PC Keyboard Interface - can't turn off numlock
Post by: MarkAshley on October 21, 2005, 06:17:32 PM
I've just built my A1200 in to a D-Box tower case. It's got a PC Keyboard interface with an AT-style keyboard adapter on the back. I bought a PS2->AT adapter, and also a tiny USB keyboard that came with a USB -> PS2 adapter. The keyboard works fine and I can type away.

The problem is that the keyboard is a laptop style keyboard in that it has a numerical keypad overlayed on the alphabetic keys, so when num lock is on numbers are typed instead of letters. Num lock comes on by default, but when I press the num lock key it does not turn num lock off! Is there any solution, except getting a different keyboard?

Thanks
Mark

It seems to be a 'feature' of the keyboard adapter; Amy's only got numeric keys on the pad (that's probably why NumLock is forced). Either get another adapter that allows turning it off (do any?) or get a large keyboard.

Damn :( I've noticed that the keyboard as a Fn key which seems to override the num lock function. I'm going to check it still allows all the other keys to work, and if they do then I might take the keyboard apart and force Fn to stay pressed down.
