Title: some ScumVm questions
Post by: kas1e on October 21, 2005, 05:00:08 PM
Hi all. Today i tryed WarpScumm (from http://www.algonet.se/~chaozer/warpscumm.shtml) on little Sam&Max demo (oround 1mb of lenght) and it is work fine , but
without sound :( Said "IMusInternal: FindTag failed finding sound". So, i tryed http://people.freenet.de/uweryssel/scumm_en.html , this said that 'can't found any scummvm games in this directory".

So, can anyone to said where i can download full version of sam & max and full throttle ?:) Thanks all.

Nowhere.

AFAIK only legal freeware to use with ScummVM is Beneath a Steel Sky and Flight of the Amazon Queen.

Do you mean Uwe Ryssel ?:) Yes, thanks. I download 0.7.1 version. But ! Here is 2 binary files only:

ScummVM_ScummSimon_wos
ScummVM_SkySwordQueen_wos

Ok. Downloaded from http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php
# Beneath a Steel Sky, Freeware Floppy Version (7.3M)
and
# Flight of the Amazon Queen, Freeware Floppy Version (6.7M)

Unpack, run ScummVM_ScummSimon_wos for example, have window about 'choice yout game' choice unpack directory with game and .. have 'not game in this directory'. Well , can anyone explain step by step how use scum vm ?:) thanks.

Not really interesting to use ScummVM to play Beneath a steel sky or Flight of the amazon queen, since there is already brilliant native amiga versions of these games.

Try ScummVM_SkySwordQueen_wos version. My guess is that he compiled 2 version to make smaller executables.

With ScummSImon you can run LucasArts games + Simon the Sorcerer (again, a guess).

Yes, it works. But:
ScummVM_SkySwordQueen_wos - can skysword + other games
ScummSimon - only Simon i think (do not have it)

But, WarpScumm can load Sam&Max demo (just from old dos archive). ScummWos - can't.

And, after little tests, i want to said, that WarpScum work faster. I can play in filtration mode, 640x480x16bit with sound, and game play really nice.

Here is 2 screenshoot from WarpScumm and Sam&Max :)

Looks good, but it doesn´t work on AGA and also if try Blazewcp with ScummWos you get better performance in speed.

The new ScummVM WOS really rocks!

Playing Broken Sword II here at quite good speed and Curse Of Monkey Island which only the music in the cutscenes is chopped up thanks to the weak 68k AHI....wonder why they did´t make a PPC version of AHI for classic PPC owners

Are you sure there isn´t a PPC version of AHI,look in the AHI home page. The only thing that keeps me from using the ScummvmWos version is that sometimes the game will hang, and i think this has something to do either with AHI or the graphics.library, however the 68k version works like a charm if i use blazewcp together with chunkyppc library.

Apparently there's an AHI version 5.7 for PPC on the Mediator MM cd but I've been told here thatt's for MorphOS
