If the fan does not spin the card does not sit correctly or is completely dead. Try to push it into its place strongly.

Bye,
Thomas

If it's dead/damaged then Amiga Repair Centre in France seems to be the people to contact.

The card needs memory to work.

I agree with odin. If it's broken, send it to Jean-Jaques at Amiga Repair Centre.

It's a total waste with a broken ppc card knowing an Amiga out there would be so happy to run it.

Although I would test it with some memory attached before sending it away.

Hi,

If this is an 060 ppc, then you need the 060 libraries installed first. It wont boot without them. Hope your luck is in.;-)

What other hardware have you got connected to your A1200?

Plug in a RAM module (I don't think it matters which slot, but try the slot which is flush to the PPC card first) and turn on the A1200 with nothing else attached - just the A1200 mobo and the BPPC.  Try another RAM module if possible just in case the RAM is bad.

What I don't understand is why the fan doesn't spin.  Even on a dead PPC card the fan would still run as long as it's getting the correct voltage.  Ty a different PSU?   Is your A1200 towered?  You can splice a cable from the PSU directly to the PPC fan instead of using the little power cable that plugs into the PPC card.

If you hold down both mouse buttons when turning on the Amiga, can you see the early startup menu?  If so does the BPPC show up as working in Expansion board diagnostic?

You can try to hold down the Escape key instead of both bouse buttons after powering on and see if you can get to the BPPC menu.  Try altering the RAM settings.

How is the motherboard powered?  If it's in a tower and you have an ATX or AT PSU, try powering the motherboard from the original power connector at the back, and plug a 3.5" power connector from the PSU into the floppy power connector from the motherboard at the same time.  It could be that the PPC card is just not getting enough power to work.

Try removing the heatsink from the PPC and check if there's any dust under there.  It gets dirty quite easily.  Clean it, apply some Artic Silver paste (just a small amount) and replace the heatsink.

If you still get a black screen after this then it's 99% certain that your PPC is f***ed.  If you're a gambling man then you could send it to DCE, but otherwise, the guy in France seems to be "The Man".

No you don't. The libraries are in flash.

WHEN IT COMES TO BLIZZARD PPCBOARD/OVERCLOCKING I **MAY** BE ABLLE TO HELP MOST OF YOU..

1: . the fan should be working,if the fan is not working then..

THE FAN IS FAULTY/DAMAGE OR

2: 1 OF 2 RESISTOR/S ( OR BOTH ) IS DAMAGE/BLOWN DUE TO POWER ISSUE..( FAN RESISTOR/S )..

3: BURNT OUT TRACKS ON PPC BOARD.

@ webhead

Hi webhead

Glad to here that you were easily able to swop over the 040 for an 060. Something I was asking people if it was possible as im looking at buying a 200MHz PPc with 040 and swopping that out gfor my 060 66.

I was wondering what you are no planning to do with the rest of the PPB board now that you have removed the 68K CPU? Will you be willing to sell it?

Please let me know!

Thanks,
AmiBoy

After trying to decode this, I conclude that you have thrown one BlizPPC in the bin after removing the 060?

How about you send it to Amiga Repair Centre? It might still be possible to reanimate the dead card....

(Just seems such a waste to let Amiga hardware end up with the trash, especially such valuable hardware..).
