One day i was wondering how real is the winuae emulating the real A500.
Can someone give a % guess? Is it 99.9% as the real machine or are we talking about 50% ?
Just wondering.

99.99999999999999999999%

I'd say around 90%.
Certainly good enough for playing games and general Amiga fun.
The biggest problem (and its no big deal) Ive noticed seems to be with screenmode handling.
I find the emulated screen doesnt fill my PC screen correctly. Its either missing part or bordered with black which has occasional garbage flickering on and off.
Im not sure if this is just a simple, tweakable, settings problem or down to the differences in Amiga/PC screenmodes?
Is there something like a stretch-to-fit setting in recent WinUAE versions?

%82.33333 (and counting ...)

I would say at least 95%.

I would say that 90%. I don't know if Half-pixel scrolling is emulated, it may be interesting to check if scrolling is as smooth as an a500...
For AGA it may require even more resources because you would need a 1280 pixel wide screen to emulate quarter-pixel scrolling, I know that some games used it but I can't remember the names. My AGA amigas were bought too late and I was more interested in coding and using apps than trying out games.
EDIT: Oh yes! Worms used quarter-pixel scrolling :-) It may be a good idea to put an A1200 next to a pc with winuae with vsync enabled and a 1280x1024 screen (so real quarter-pixel scrolling can be emulated correctly) and check if it's as smooth.

With drive sounds enabled it is almost 100%.
But with WinUAE you get much more than just an A500. You get all Amiga models you wish. You can even build your own fantasy high-end killer-Amiga.
Bye,

Copper timing is off, causing trashed displays on some demos and games which work on the real hardware. Sprite movement and scrolling aren't as smooth as the real hardware. I think about 90%.

Really? I've really pushed it hard and not found any problems with the copper (Make sure you switch "Fast Copper Mode" off).

Try UAE on an Athlon64 or a 3Ghz Pentium4... It's impossible to tell if you are running an emulator or a Real Amiga. Sprites are full speed.

i would say it is about 150%
here is why. there is no single amiga that can run as much as uae. if you pop a game in that needs a special setup just change you config quick and let it rip.
i used to have an a1000 and there was some stuff i couldnt run (obviously) when i got an a1200 i could run some other stuff but some stuff needed a degrader disk or whatever. when i got my 3000 it changed again (mortal kombat died, any ideas?)
with uae you have an amiga with any chipset any cpu any rom any ram configuration etc, etc
does anyone have a game or demo or app that doesnt work with winuae now? and if so would that program run on any amiga?

so,, there should be benchmark for winuae.. sometimes i fel like that its 100% as the real but im not a pro to say just wanted to know other users opinion.

I just tried a couple of things at random.
First I was thinking of some code I wrote years ago for a Music Disk (http://main.aminet.net/demo/sound/TRN-ChipMunks.lha), which never ran properly on any version of WinUAE. I just tried it again on WinUAE 1.1, and the bottom part of the screen is no longer trashed (as it was in previous versions of UAE), but the scroller still flickers like hell and the bottom third of the display has random bits of what looks like sprite data appearing and reappearing randomly. Also the intro (coded by someone else) has problems when the image scrolls up - it's less than smooth, and after the second and third scroll up, it doesn't scroll far enough (the modulo is changed to -40 at a specific point in the display for the floodfill effect) so the bottom part of the cartoon looks broken.
Also in the Showtime 17 Diskmag, the picture at the start of the mag doesn't scroll up smoothly, it almost jerks into view, and the scroller in the mag intro is flickery and again has random bits of junk appearing every now and then (again, most likely spurious sprite data)
Sure, it could be that they're just badly coded, but the fact that it works 100% on any real Amiga, and not on WinUAE, just demonstrates than WinUAE is still incapable of accurately emulating a real Amiga computer.

I don't have such hardware here unfortunately, just an aging 1.8Ghz P4 desktop and a Toshiba Pentium M Laptop. On these, at least, scrolling is not as smooth as an A500, as the movement of sprites (mouse cursor most noticably) is not silky smooth like on a real Amiga.

That much is not needed. I am yet to see one single game not running at full speed here on my 2400XP+ Athlon.
With that said, I can also say that when I ran games on my old Compaq Presario at 350MHz I could not find a game that didn't in full speed. Did never try any demo or applications back then, though.
However, some chipsets seems to work very badly with WinUAE. I've got friends that have major slowdowns in games like Alien Breed 3D II. And, myself have yet to try out WinUAE on a computer where the graphics doesn't get completely trashed when moving the mouse when Workbench 3+ has loaded (this as long as one is running without the filters turned on and for some reason Workbench runs way much slower even with the simpliest filter turned on, very very strange).
But, like I said... not THAT much horsepower is needed to run most games fluently. As long as one remember to use VSync and some proper screenmode.
AGA emulation isn't perfect, though. Has anyone managed to get Brilliance up and running without any problems?

I'd say it's about 90%.
Simple scrolling test: in WinUAE, open MuchMore and see how smoothly it scrolls. On a 2Ghz computer it is still jerky as hell.
Borderblank doesn't work properly in ECS emulation (only AGA) and WB screen dragging is also jerky. In fullscreen mode, the screen is not centred properly (with "centre screen" checked).
Amiga games look best on a 1084 monitor anyway. Modern monitors make Amiga screens look chunky and dull. I wish there was "monitor emulation".

Uhm... and you are using VSync, I'm guessing? I don't see what you mean... and the screendragging works perfectly well here...
And with that said I should also say that the one talking is someone that goes completely crazy if things doesn't run perfectly smooth (NO NO NO, Chaos Engine doesn't scroll SMOOTH, NEVER!).
