Even though my Ami1200 is, for all intents and purposes, dead, I had a question about an Ami game I was playing for awhile, the Ami version of X-Com, which was pretty cool.

I was using the CD32 version on my A1200, which means I had to use a boot disk for the game to work properly (wouldn't save or start the mission for instance), but there was a slight bug, I think. In the instructions, it says you are allowed up to 6 or 8 bases, but the max # it would allow me was 3. This a common problem?

And for those familiar with the SCSIsquirrel and the CD32program that let's you use CD32 disks on the 1200, how do you tweek it so that a CDRom will boot up and work properly

There is a WHDLoad install available that will let you run the CD32 (and other) versions off of a HD.

Sorry, this doesn't really answer your question regarding the squirrel CD32 emulator.  But, it will allow you to play this great game easier.

I'm pretty sure I launched UFO from Workbench...when I used my CD32....  Did you set the VRAM to hard disk?

I think 3 was a limitation of the CD32 version.  I beat the game and never needed more than 3...

I remember I had a 5 (or 4) floppy version, probably a cracked one, that had an HD installer and run under workbench. But it was very slow for my 2MB A600.

I have been playing UFO Enemy Unknown/Amiga X-Com via Amiga Forever/WinUAE recently on my son's PC and he wants to play it this weekend, but I forgot to bring the Amiga Format CD case that has the access codes inside the cover with us to the mountains so we can't start the game.  If anyone has those codes available, could you please private email them to me so my son (and I) can play with it a little this weekend.  Thanks

Well, i'm running X-Com again, although it's soooooooo Slllooooooowwwwww. I have to use a special "Boot CD32 from floppy" that my SquirrelSCSI disk will create, but, the program won't use my Blizzard Board 1240. Any way to jigger the startup-sequence on the floppy so as to take advantage of the board?

I can't use WHDload, because I can't hook up a HD.

It ran slow on the CD32 but adding ram via the SX-1 did improve it.  Should run fast on WinUAE if you have a 2+GHz machine.  Castles 2 runs great on WinUAE.

Well, I've found myself a PCMCIA adaptor and a flash card for my A1200, let's see if I can put WHDload and X-Com on it. :nervous:
