Title: Altering an A1200 or go with something else. . .
Post by: Edpon on October 06, 2005, 01:48:35 PM
Hi,
I was just wondering if it were worth my while to buy a A1200 and use it for all my Amiga past and present needs or should I go with an Amiga One motherboard and start over?  Also, If I did get an A1200, I've noticed that the Brits seem to have the most well rounded deals on E-bay.  If I were to get a British A1200, is it possible for me to simply switch out the power supply, and use it in the states, or is there more to it than that?  Thanks.

there is only one problem of using European Amigas in USA (other than 220V), if you're gonna connect it to TV, it will
need one with support PAL system. oh wait a min.. IIRC, you can switch to NTSC in early startup menu. so that might not be a problem. I think there is a hardware hack on aminet for NTSC/PAL switch.

BTW, if you have enough money go for A1, just check first if it runs UAE.

Ok, I'll try for the Amiga One.  Now comes the really tough question; WHO actually has them in stock for sale lately??? Every place I've tried has been "waiting" for Eyetech to send them shipments of these boards. Also, is there a specific model I should go for? Money isn't really an issue, so let's go for the best avaiable, or what's coming out really soon. Thanks.

Even more importantly...supposing you do find one, who's going to fix it when it dies in a couple years?
