Title: Wireless PCI card with Mediator
Post by: MarkAshley on October 02, 2005, 05:45:37 PM
Is this possible? Or will I have to stick with Ethernet?

Thanks
Mark

No, there's no wireless driver for the Mediator. Your only option is a wireless bridge.

Shame - it would be great if somebody developed a driver!

Thanks for getting back to me.

Too bad Elbox is so anal about the driver development.

Basically they lock out anyone else but themselves.

But there´s another way !!  :-o Use a standard pci network card (or even a Zorro card), connect that to a wireless router that sits on top of your Amiga, and configure it to search for a wireless connection like another wireless router. I´ve seen it done by one of our clubmembers, but I´m not so great in networking stuff myself

A wireless router? That's a very expensive and overdone solution, better use something like this! (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=US%2FLayout&packedargs=c%3DL_Product_C2%26cid%3D1115416829491&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper)

(there are also cheaper B solutions, 11Mbit instead of 54)

Yes I had thought of using a wireless bridge, but it would be cleaner to have a wireless PCI card.

Shame Elbox are shutting people out of developing drivers. Kind of defeats the object of using a standard like PCI - might as well use Zorro........
