A Partial solar eclipse will be visible from Scotland on Monday - weather permitting.
In Glasgow, the phenomenon will begin about 8.52am, reaching mid- eclipse around 10am and finishing at 11.12am.
In Aberdeen, Scotland, 43% of the sun will be covered up, first contact is at 7:55, and Maximum at 09:02 UT.
If the skies are clear it will be visible from every part of Scotland with slight time variations.
Of course, the annular eclipse of the Sun will be visible elsewhere as well…
A narrow corridor of the eclipse path traverses the Iberian Peninsula and stretches across the African continent.
In Madrid at 08:59 UT, for four minutes eleven seconds, 90% of the sun will be covered.

This is the fourth annular eclipse of the 21st century. The next total solar eclipse (which will be better sight) is on 29 March, 2006. It will traverse equatorial West Africa, the Sahara, the western Mediterranean, Turkey and Russia.
(I won`t mention the danger of looking at the Sun)

Cool. Great birthday present for me :-)
Pity I won't be awake enough (or if I am I won't be dressed) to see it.

A partial eclipse is visible from all regions of the UK, as you say, weather permitting. Scotland sees a slightly smaller one than the south.
As I write this, it is about mid-eclipse and all we see around here is cloud. Complete coverage in all directions. This is about par for any event these days.

I took this picture at 11:39 AM local time from my balcony in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Unfortunately, the greatest coverage had already occurred, and I'll be damned if I can figure out why it turned out so blurry, but I think it is a cool shot nonetheless. Especially for one without professional training :-).

Don't be cheeky!!! I stood out on the Highbury Fields park at 10:01am to watch it... but the cloud cover was so thick I saw nothing but a slight darkening :-(
