Title: Power supply
Post by: qwerty on September 28, 2005, 06:47:15 PM
I'm thinking of getting a Blizzard 1230 IV for my Amiga 1200, but not sure how much power that would require. It has the 030 at 50mhz and the 882 fpu at 50mzh. Do i need more power than the original power supply, or will it work just fine with that?

I've also got a hd and a pcmcia network card connected.

Back in the day, I ran my A1200 with a 50mHz 030 and 68882, HD and Squirrel SCSI on the standard PSU. You should be fine with your setup.

I also had Blizzard 1260, 3.5 HD mounted in the case, Ext. HD floppy,  Surf Squirrel and 100meg Zip attached to the Squirrels SCSI.. All of which i will be auctioning off on Ebay.ca when I have time.

You shouldn't have any problems qwerty.

Nam

You could always scratch around and find an A500 power supply cheap.  The smallest A500 PS was 35W while the A1200 comes with a 25W supply.

Ok, cool!

What about a PPC board? Can you run one of those successfully without extra power?
