Title: Cd-Rom for Amiga
Post by: Leifern on September 21, 2005, 05:27:14 PM
Hi all,

I've been having some problems with my old cd-drive, so i'm getting a new one. I have a SCSI controller for Blizzard1260, and i was wondering if i can use pretty much all of the SCSI cd(rw) drives out there..? I want a rewrite drive, but is there good burning software out there for the amiga (OS3.9)?

Also, can i use ULTRA SCSI and so forth aswell? I understand that it won't perform like a Ultra SCSI drive. But SCSI-II CD-RW drives are hard to come by.. Fast ones anyway! :-P

You will be able to use any SCSI controller out on the market I believe, but if the interface doesn't match you will need an adaptor of course. If you can't find a drive with 50 pins interface that suit your needs, find a 68 pins one that will. Put in an adaptor, and away you go.

As for CD burning software; try MakeCD, that's the one I use myself, but there is a program called Frying Pan out there, which I have heard should be pretty good as well.
