yeah, i saw this news elsewhere. it's funny, but the only time i even am aware of the Ads is when someone else mentions them. I never see them!

Just install AdMuncher. It will block ads in every win program (IE/Opera/ICQ/DC/Kazaa/and so on)

Nice and fast browser, but it's very crash prone on my linux system (even in it's latest 8.5 version). Think I'm going back to firefox/mozilla.

With Opera it was different.  The adverts were integrated and appeared on the toolbars.  You had to register to get rid of them.

that's very odd. it's always been stable on my Red Hat.

i suggest you go to their forums and try to find out what setting you may have that are causing you problems.

I'm happy with Firefox, any reason why Opera might be better?

Whats better (for me):

- Mouse gestures, move forward and back with the mouse

- Built in bit torrent client

- Its norwegian :)

i'll stick with firefox thanks, i find opera annoying as hell

and as for the mouse gestures, they've got plugins for firefox that do that, along with everything else that opera can do

and none of it will ever be featurecreep!!!

The browser just looks terrific. It just does. However it's a bit sluggish, too light then down the drain. Otherwise, a missed copy at that, too.

p.s.
just to add, just got one, happy.

I think the point he was subtly trying to make is that this news item has bugger all to do with the Amiga and thus shouldn't even have been submitted here.

lol.
So that’s why it was cunningly hidden in the Alternative Operating Systems sub forum?

It's not an alternative operating system either though is it!!

ffs!

This section is for talking about ANY aspect of non-Amiga stuff.

If you look at the very first page on the index to this section you'll see posts about firefox and mcafee.

Are they operating systems?  I don't think so.

Do you want another two or three sections under the "Not Quite Amiga but still computer related category"?  One for hardware, one for OS and one for other software?

This topic is computer related and it's on an alternative OS, so where else could it go?  It certainly can't go in the Emulators board in this section.  It won't go in the Coffee house, Developers, General or Main sections.

Where do you suggest I post this?

Dammit, I sometimes wonder why I even bother.  Try to be helpfull and there's an arse waiting to complain.

I loved the speed when opera was at version 5 but as itr went on it got slower and a bit bloated but it has always been stable on my system and is still a nice browser i will give this new version a go even though my browser of choice is mozila firefox.I use avant as well and explorer sometimes i like the choice of haveing more than one browser and as there free why not give it a go . :-)
