I`m getting an A1200 very soon, today i bought a pcmcia 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet PC Card for $20 ,
what i wanted to know was if the A1200 had a driver for it ?whats it called and where can i get it?
the card didnt come with a box or driver, all i know about it is whats writen on it.which is:
CardBus Ethernet
10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet PC Card
10 Base T/100 Base TX
-
CardBus, that sounds bad :-(
-
cardbs will ot work
-
yeah the amiga 1200 only has a 16bit pcmcia bus and is unable to use 32bit cardbus cards.. you should look for cnet.device on aminet(recently a new version appeared iirc) and buy a card thats compatible, none of them should cost you more than a few euros nowadays..
-
Even though the form factor is (nearly) identical there are two different 'PCMCIA' card types around:
real (=old) PCMCIA: 16 bit ISA style = compatible w/ A1200/600
CardBus: 32 bit PCI style = not compatible
Usually you're not even be able to insert a CardBus card into a PCMCIA slot all the way (to protect the 3.3V card from the 5V in the slot).

thanks guys,im gonna take it back to the shop tomorrow.

You look here (http://www.g-mb.de/cnet/index_e.html) for a list of tested cards with the CNet.device. :-)
-
Or you can use the 3c589.device with these cards. (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=17065)
Alos want to mention that you can use certain wireless PCMCIA-cards in your A1200, like the Orinoco.
