So I've this A2000 I decided to resurrect. It's a late A2000, ROM3.1, GVP030@50, 4MB FastRAM, CV64/3D, Flickerfixer (not the Phase5/DCE one), 3,2GB HD, CDR blah blah...
I've installed OS3.9 and CGFX.
Unfortunately the system bus seems to kill off the graphics card's performance to a point where it is unusable. Is there something I can do via CGFX's tooltypes to speed things up? For instance even 640x480 bit on the CGFX is slower than the same resolution on ECS (deinterlaced).
Oh and another thing... I installed OS3.9 before installing CGFX and 99% of icons are in four colours. Can I do something to fix this without reinstalling the OS?
Thanks

@Skyrunner:
For some reason if you are using the CV64/3D in an Amiga with a Zorro2 bus and a 68030 or 68040 cpu, you need to run "Enforcer (http://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/dev/debug/enforcer.lha) >NIL:" just after SetPatch in your Startup-Sequence. Is there anyone that can explain why this is needed?
This tip worked fine with my 030 and CV64/3D equipped A2000. Without it, the performance was much worse the performance of the chipset, disregarding if I used CyberGraphX or Picasso96.

You need more RAM. No ifs ands or buts. The CV64/3D pulls four meg of fast RAM before you even leave the gate. I have one on my A4000. If it cannot get that RAM it is not going to perform.
OS3.9 is also a RAM hog (at least from an Amiga point of view)
RAM, more ram and once you have that more RAM again. You need to find at least 16 more meg somehow. Does the GVP board have ram sockets? With Zorro II you are going to be limited in what RAM cards you can use.
I am fortunate to have 112 meg of fast RAM aboard. It does make a difference.

Yes, it does have GVP SIMM slots. Anyone willing to sell?

That won't work. The machine comes to a halt upon loading enforcer and needs a CTRL+C to continue loading.
The performance remains the same.
Is there a switch that I should use?

try a 'run enforcer >nil:'...

Use "Run >NIL: Enforcer". Do not place the redirection to >NIL: after Enforcer, then Run will output something like [CLI 2] and you don't want that before IPrefs has loaded.

Hey it works! Thanks a lot! :)
Now about that icon color problem... :)
