So I got me a voodoo3 inside the mediator right now.
Works quite nice actually.
But I also have a voodoo5 which I could place.
Are there any advantages to place the voodoo5 except the extra fans.
Oh did try it once and could only get it to one screensize if I remember correctly is that right?

The 5500 has two chipsets but only one is used by the mediator driver and so the RAM is reduced by a half, however you can still use 32mb (31mb video, 1mb audio) which is double that of any other card.
Speed wise from what I've read there isn’t much of a difference as only one chipset is used, but I think the 5500 is generally considered as marginally faster, with the added advantage of more usable onboard ram.
I have multiple screen modes set on my system with no problem :-)

I have the 5500 as well and have no problemss with it. I've heard in the past several people say the 5500 is unstable but I think that has been rectified. With all that said, your gunna pay lotz more $$$ for the 5500 then a VooDoo 3, which still works amazing fast compaired to Amiga classic video cards.
So, it really depends on if you NEED the high perfomance AND if you can/are willing to pay for it...

How about the voodoo4 4500?
-
Installed the voodoo5 as more memory is always better I think.
Well it doesn't feel faster but that was also not wat I was expecting.
It does do all screenmodes now yes.
Don't know about the voodoo4.

The 4500 and the 5500 use the same VSA-100 GPU, although the 5500 has two of them. I tried a 5500 in my A4000D since I had one around, but I didn't see any performance increase over the Voodoo3 3000 so I took it back out. The added benefit of less noise, heat and power consumption helped the decission. (Beware the 4500 shouldn't suffer from most of these, it's a smaller card, without an external power requirement)

BTW, do you know which of the two GPUs on the 5500 is used? I'm installing Temp sensors on my PPC, 060 and Voodoo card and it would be nice to have it on the right one ;)
