hi there
I too reanimated my old amiga 500. After 12 years or so, a lot of dirt and wetness from the basement, once even swimming!..... it actualy still works. Although it would perfectly fit into a Madmax setdesign, if they would have had any computers in that movie. My problem now is, that most of the disks don't work. Especially the original workbench doesn't. And in the meantime i forgot a lot about the amiga. For instance, i can't access the HD (lacking WB), the one that extends the a500 on the left. I don't even remember if it was possible to boot from there?
And does anybody have experience with recovering disks that layed around for to long. Probably often just the bootblock thats damaged. And so many more questions. But before asking anymore i will of course first use the search function.... :-)

Hello.
Is it the Amiga 590 Hard drive or some other expander. There were several from different manufacturers. You should be able to boot from it if you've got Kickstart 1.3 or newer. If you're still on kickstart 1.2 then you have to boot from the disk to access the mountlist to mount the hard drive.

Hi,
How much "swimming" did your Amiga do?! If your disks got wet, your hard drive may also have suffered...
However, as far as I remember, the A590 provides a standard SCSI interface, so you should be able to replace the drive easily enough.
When you power up the A590, can you hear the drive spinning up?

Hi
It was only the amiga itself that got realy wet. The monitor looks "used" and has this strange flickering. But the harddrive sounds ok. At least i can hear it running on startup. My Kickstart is 1.3. But the HD doesn't boot automaticly and i havn't found a disk with a working workbench. Of all those disks so far i could only play Giana Sisters. Was or is there a special key combination for booting from the harddrive?
thx for the help
