Title: Amiga to PC link for one time file transfer required..

Is there any way to cheaply connect my PC and Amiga and transfer some files accross without any Ethernet or anything like that? I would have used my CD-RW on the amiga but I can't get my SCSI stuff working. So if anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated. (By cheap I mean under £20 btw)

So what sort of cable would I require for that? And are Parnet/Sernet free or do they need buying?

The easiest way would be to buy a nullmodem-cable and download twin_11a.lha from aminet.

Sorry sernet and parnet is for amiga to amiga transfers.
But there are similar programs for amiga to pc transfer on aminet, with either nullmodem cables or custommade parallell cables.
What is it for?
If it´s for Winuae then you could connect the harddrive directly to your pc, thats what i did it´s much faster than serial transfer.

I used one program (forgot the name) that was compatible with LapLink, ParNet and NullModem connections.

It would "mount" the PC's drives on the amiga and transfer through the cable.   I'll see if I can dig it out if none of the above solutions help.

Please note: It's okay for smaller files, but it's a SLOOOOOOW process. ;)  

You could also use null modem cables and terminal programs on both sides.

get a nullmodem cable and get term from aminet ,then get a terminal prog for you PC (or you can use the hyperterminal in
 winblows )  ;-)

you can pick up pc2amiga for very cheap something like ten pounds last price i saw it for from places like northwest micro and forematt home computing.

Thanks for all your help people. :) I went to try and get a nullmodem cable today but couldn't find one anywhere. Usual response was "Ooh haven't seen one of those in years. Everyone's doing that stuff over infra red you know." Any suggestions on where to get a cable?

Hi Nirejhenge,
I had to do this about a month ago, 'cos my old P120 notebook doesn't have a CD-ROM, and I wanted to transfer files from CD. I downloaded PuttoPC from Aminet, connected Amiga and PC using a standard 25-pin  parallel cable, and had no problems. It is a little slow, but there are ways of optimising transfer. Just run PuttoPC on the PC, and mount PC: in the Shell on the Amiga side and voila! Then all you need to do is copy cd0:filename pc:c/destinationdirectory....

P.S. Unusual name, does it mean anything?

Thanks for the help (that goes for everyone). Speed isn't really much of an issue as I only intend to do it once.

As for my name it's kind of Amiga related in a way..
(though it's not that interesting)

Basically I made a track on Octamed with a friend and we took it in turns to type a letter for the track title, this came out as Nire. I then used the name when in a roleplaying group in a world called Jhenge. Then I started using Nire as an internet name but discovered other people using it so I tacked Jhenge on the end.

Bet you wish you hadn't asked now. :)
