The rescue effort in New Orleans is hampered by lack of telecommunication, transportation and energy problem.
Why the US Government did not use Military Hovercraft, Amphibious tanks for transportation, Stratellite (Telecommunication Balloon) for replacing Cell Phone network / Radio / TV, Balloon Lighting, Solar Cell, Sea planes for fighting fire and other advanced technologies?

all week i've been getting my news about the situation in New Orleans from these internet guerrillas (http://www.livejournal.com/users/interdictor/).
they have been providing communication between various groups and they are in a part of New Orleans which is not flooded but certainly has no toilets, running water, etc. and they have to worry about getting fuel. I'm absolutely rivited.
this is NOT faux news. this is real!

Hum,
It seems to me that the government was slow off the mark, considering that they could predict the damage that could be done.
But at least they`re on the move now.
So, it seems that the government thinks that they’ll manage to get it all up and running in two months time...
However, i’m just waiting to find out what they’ll do when the next couple of hurricanes strike the region in that time.
Or have they overlooked that possibility?

@asian1
communication electronics are cheap these days, solarcells are not to expensive, the expensive part is antennas
We have already seen many examples of private citizens being better prepared than the bureaucracy.
