I've just seen THIS (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Boxed-Amiga-A4000T-awesome-system-with-lots-of-extras_W0QQitemZ8215291622QQcategoryZ98930QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) on eBay and had to post, it's a very nice machine for some lucky person, its sooooo.. clean.

MAKES ME WANT TO BIDD
adonay :-D
-
It is a very nice setup. It will surely attract a great deal of attention, especially from those who will sell it on ;-)
-
This is indeed a very nice setup and will no doubt fetch top $$$.
Speaking of, I wonder if Softhut still has any of those NOS A4000T's for $1300.00 :-D

Any bets how far it will go?
-
Going by the price of that other clean/boxed 4000 desktop the other week there on eBay I can see this going for over £500, Ill guess £500-£600, maybe even more if you get two fanatics bidding (lol) . Although I could be completely wrong which I probably will be :-)

More than I can afford, I'm quite sure.
You wouldn't believe how gutted that makes me feel :-(

@ Karlos
I wasn't aware that you wanted an A4KT. Well, I mean, you have a good A1200 tower setup. What would you do with that A4KT?
-
@ Coollit
Ja, I think £600 wouldn't suprise me at all. The reason I say it is because it is a genuine complete clean package. What you see there is everything I got when I bought mine in 1996, right down to the stands and the packaging and the bezel door label. Unfortunately mine is no longer mint (especially the case) and I no longer have the original packaging or the original 040 card. But everything else is still here: same manuals and disks etc. It really is a nice machine, if you can choose just one AGA Amiga to own.

£180 and its only been posted for 4 hours!

Ahhh... The Classic Question!!

Hehehe, I bid it up to 215 just for the fun of it :o)

The 1200T (and the 1200D here too) is fine but as a fan of the classic, I've always fancied a true 'big box' amiga. And they don't come much bigger than the 4KT :-D
Also, personally part of the attraction with these machines has always been rooted in how unattainable they were. The way things are just now that looks set to continue.
Don't get me wrong, I am a happy with my current 1200 setup,
but even with the BVision/BPPC, the basic A1200(T) does not have the inherent performance or expansion potential of the 4000T. Just consider accelerator cards, the one expansion you are almost certain to opt for no matter what system you get. There's no comparison between the CSPPC and BPPC, the only advantage of the BPPC is that it can take more memory in total. The CSPPC simply murders it in performance terms.

@ Karlos
Well I hope that one day you get an A4000T. I had the same problem with unattainable stuff like the PIV and the DKB, which I have been fortunate to get hold of. It sucks wanting something but not being able to get it.
-
Jeff,
To answer your question, yes, SoftHut still has A4000T's for $1299.00, I was in the market for one not too long ago and inquired with them. I know he has them in stock. :-D
Thanks,
Mike

@drwho: Are they totally stock or do they have anything more in them?
-
I am after a Commodore A4000T (Not the AT one), will pay top dollor for one. Anyone here have one? I never met anyone that does.
-
I do, apart from the case. My motherboard and all daughterboards are labeled C=, not Amiga Technologies...
Now all I have to find is the casing... :-D
-
@ TJLazer
There is a user here who has an original CBM A4KT. IIRC he took it out of the case and put the case in his loft. Can't remember who it is, but I remember clearly that he didn't want to sell it.
-
Well I think the AT A4000T is UNGLY! I would love to get a hold of the CBM one. It looks awesome. Is the AT and CBM MB the same form factor?
-
"...Well I think the AT A4000T is UNGLY!..."
----------------------------------------------
Come on, the AT A4KT is a lot of things, but it certainly isn't UNGLY :-P

There never was a AT m/b, they just used C= stuff. Mine has C= logos all over it.
The tower is the exact same one, with a different front panel/bezel, and yes, the C= looks waaaay better.
The AT A4000T is indeed big and ugly, and the lack of 3.5" bays does annoy me, but it has got plenty of space inside :)

C= 4000T and AT 4000T are exactly the same thing except the case design.
Functionality of both cases is the same, however as most people like to mention, the C= case is a little bit better looking than the AT case.
The cases were produced by the same company for C= and AT, which was Enlight.
Actually, you can say that everything is exactly the same except the front bezel. :-D
So even if one were to acquire a C= 4000T, it would still be just as (un)functional as the AT 4000T. :-D
-
Am I the only one who thinks the AT version looks better than the CBM version?
-
You may be right X-ray. Everyone is definitely blinded by the whole "genuine C=" thing, I guess. :-) That and the fact that only about 300 of the C= models were sold. :-o
-
The CBM one is very sexy and has curves! The AT one is boring and OEM looking!
-
So far I have stumbled upon at least 6 different front bezels for that same Enlight tower, found used with old PC AT motherboards. Some without the door design and some with the door design.
Perhaps one day I'll find the same one as what C= used. :-)

I assume this stuff isn't exactly widely available? Or?
If you have any links and/or images, I would really appreciate them.

@PaSha:
Unfortunately not. :-(
I either saw a used tower case on eBay, which was of the right Enlight form-factor as it looked identical to the A4000T case, or I saw a used full-tower case being sold locally at a used computer parts shop (more like a garbage dump as most of the stuff is in really poor condition). I'd gladly pick one up for myself just as a spare, however in most cases these towers were heavily damaged and scratched up. I only managed to run into one tower with a complete front bezel of a different type, compared to the C= or Escom design that wasn't smashed up, however that bezel looked as TjLazEr would say...really too OEM PC like, so I passed on picking it up.
-
Actually... this was new to me; the difference in the casing between the AT and the C= versions of the A4000T. How embarassing. I have never noticed, but now it is really obvious. And I have to agree with those that prefer the C= version of the casing, it feels way more timeless than the rather harsh and squarish AT one.

Dudes.....
It is up to £510 and there is little more than half an hour left. Do I hear gravel crunching on roof-tops as the snipers take their places?
My guess: at least £650 final bid (give or take the ubiquitous 2p added by the sniper of course)
-
670£ !!!!!

ROFL yeah
