Yup. I also was curious about this Unics machine, I recently found a website where I was able to download a snapshot of the data in the AMIX streamer cassete, so I've got Amix, but I would be very pleased also to grab one of these beauties...

See you man

 :-)

AFAIK it was just an A3000 with a tape drive. Commodore also made an 8-bit framebuffer (1024x768) and I don't know if X will work without it, but I think it was optional.
I don't know if the boot disks supported only one kind of tape drive, but If you can get your hands on an A3000 with a SCSI taper you could always give it a shot.
AMIX is even more mysterious than A/UX (which of course makes it very cool)

I do have this GFX card: it's called A2410 TIGA GFX card . At that time it was one of the few TRUE GFX cards. That is it did have a true GFX processor made by TI which was very powerful and was programmable with its own assembler language.
OK thats nothing impressive as today nearly any GFX CPU can do this but not at that time.
This card was alos very expensive: 2000 Euro!!!
I did buy own beginning 90's for 150 EUROs :-)
It worked right in my Amiga 2000 and later with my A3000. Though I could only view pictures with a PD display program but later I could run my Workbench and other programs with EGS.
Now I still use it with my A3000 under CyberGFX.
It can display 1024x768 pixels with 8 bit display from a 24 bit palette.

I also do have the original AMIX tapes and the CBM tape drive (was build in in my A3000T UX) and the disks.
As my A3000T is fully build up with all slots filled

my configs (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/9253/computer.html)
I can't run AMIX on the A3000T because of the 68060 CPU. AMIX only runs on the 68020 with MMU (A2000 with 020/MMU) or the 68030.
Apparently theirs a patch to run it on 68040 cards but didn't try it yet.
I will soon try to reinstall AMIX on my A3000 as a supercool UN*X workstation :-)

And Yes Xwindow should run with the TIGA Card under AMIX.

i love the A3000UX!

i dont own one, i own an A4000T
and i know the A4000T is probably superior to it in many ways but the A3000 is probably my favorite amiga, especialy the UX!

years ago, i once had a chance to buy an A3000UX in perfect condition for only $150!!(au) but i called too late :(

Hi All,

I've got one of these babies...

Dual floppy drives,
2Gb scsi HD,
A2065 network (connects flawlessly to broadband i'net with AUI transciever  :-) )
A3070 tape drive
2Mb Chip, 16Mb Fast
No TIGA card unfortunately.

Shame I still didn't have the time to put the AMIX image on a tape drive and install it...Maybe later, or I'll sell it for a good amount of cash.
