Question:
Is there a way to copy amiga files saved from the internet in Linux RH or Windows 9x/XP to an Amiga 880K floppy?
Problem:
I have an amiga 1200 coming and have a d-link pcmcia card that is ne-2000 compatible. I found the proper driver ahead of time. I need to get the driver from an XP box to the 1200 after I download it. I can copy the files to a linux box if I need to.
My thoughts:
I could copy the file to a 720k DOS disk and then use an emulation on the amiga1200 to get the file (I guess).
Also, I was thinking I could copy the file to a disk in linux if I could get Linux to format it to 880K.
Does the 1200 come with a 1.44m Floppy? can it read 1.44m floppies? Can Linux format a disk in 880k and is there program that will read a 720k DOS disk in WB?
Lots of questions. can someone suggest a solution?

No, not without special hardware.

Yes, see below.

No. You can't without special hardware.

No, not standard.

No.

Not in amiga track format, no, unless if you use special hardware (http://www.jschoenfeld.de/products/cwmk3_e.htm). This is a floppy controller problem, not drive or software problem.
and is there program that will read a 720k DOS disk in WB?
Yes. Storage-floppy has the PC0 mount entry.
Insert Storage-floppy into floppy drive, open DOSDrivers -drawer and doubleclick PC0-icon. Insert Workbench floppy back as requested. The internal floppy drive will now read/write 720K MSDOS formatted disks. If you want this as a permanent feature, drag&drop the PC0 icon into Workbench-floppy Devs/DOSDrivers -drawer.

Ok, 720k was what I was thinking would do the best. My XP box doesn't have it as a choice but I can use a 98 box upstairs to do it I think. If not I have to break out an old 486 with 95 on it.
After that I need to figure out how to install TCP/IP stack and a web browser.
I scanned over the Catweasle thing but it doesn't look like an option for me unless I get a second machine because this machine is going to be archived for collection purposes ( I wanna play with it a little though). I spent my allowance on this one. My wife will kill me if I have another computer looking thing come into the house.
Any suggestions on a browser or windows sharing?
I need to get rid of that signature.

Thanx for the quick reply and valuable info.

Any suggestions on a browser or windows sharing
Browser: IBrowse 2.3 (http://www.iospirit.de/index.php?mode=pmrinf&pr_id=25) (commercial)
Windows file sharing: Samba (http://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/comm/tcp/samba_2.0.7.lha) or smbfs (http://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/comm/tcp/smbfs.lha) (free)

I have HD disks... the machine arrives soon. I don't know why I'm asking this question because all I have to do is try it and see if it works. Do you think HD disks are gonna cause a problem?
I'm gonna have to read the catweasle thing more closely.
My other half is gonna kill me if I buy that a2000
Add a a1000 to the list below... man I love Amiga!
